Happy independence day. I really like Gandhi (although I have nuked him a few times in Sid Meier's Civilization). Well, India is a nice and beautiful country, but suffers from overpopulation, poverty, and religious violence. My country (Greece) is full of racists, so let's better not talk about what they think, since they're brainless. xD But greek sites sometimes upload some articles about religious violence in India or weird religious habits or rapes that happen there. And they usually frown upon its poverty.

Thanks TheLuckyShamrock ! I agree on all counts but the religious violence, they are mostly misreported incidents by vested interests in my country to politicize the issues :|
Thanks for your comment!

You are welcome. These reports are usually about Hindus vs Muslims. I remember an article about some Hindus that killed a Muslim man that was transporting some cows. But I'm sure you know better, since you live there.

Happy independence day!

I actually live in Israel and travel to India about twice a year (to Noida, for work). I can say it's among the top destinations for young Israelis to visit after the army service, where most go on extended trips abroad before starting college / university, typically for 6 months or more. India's combination of unique cultures and inexpensive cost of traveling is probably what makes it so popular.

I haven't personally done the "long trip", but was lucky to travel to many countries (30+ so far, leaving to the US and Canada tomorrow, and traveling to Romania next month). Admittedly I haven't seen much of India other than some temples and markets in Delhi, and the Taj Mahal in Agra. The only time I extended my stay after a work trip there was for a trip to Sri Lanka. I do however plan to extend one of these trips and do an Indian Himalaya trek, but I need to be in better shape first ;-)

Poland. India is one of the most-populated country. Personal for me - a zone rich of IT services. Last time I saw an festival of color (or different name) where people uses powder with different colours. It's look nice. You're have different culture that me. And there are large differences between different regions in entire country (urbanized areas etc.). Ahhh - and we lost Bollywood movies...

Happy indepedence day!

Yes the country is so vast, that even citizens seldom have the chance to visit all the states to have a taste of different cultures!
And lost Bollywood movies part escaped me, are they banned in Poland now?

In my country nothing are banned (except drugs etc.). All games are available to play, movies too. No restrictions... As you see Poland are never mentioned when we have ROW game with "limited to" option :)
Why you think that movies are banned?

Well, such incidents do happen during Festivals when a large labour force goes back to their homes to celebrate their festival.
Honestly i haven't witnessed these myself, but from what i see on TV, these trains go very slow, like u can walk and catch them up.

Happy Independence Day!

I like India! I have never been, but as a kid I lived in the UAE and got into touch with a few Indian ppl, whom I liked a lot. So for me when ever I go into an Indian restaurant, see Indian ppl, watch a Bollywood, it's part of my childhood and I feel at home.
I'm not so sure how others see about it, buuuuut I tend to not mention Bollywood that often, since I know the looks I get. So there we go ;)
(But most ppl I know are pretty openminded and therefore it is nothing bad or anything!)

Hehe, thanks Ninglor03!
I admit a few Bollywood movies are a few black sheep in the movie world. But hey the food makes up for it! :D
I would copy paste an above comment regarding food here : I suggest you try Masala Dosa ( south indian delicacy ) , Murg Biryani ( Afghani dish, Indianized ), and Cholle Bhature and Pav Bhaji ( both North Indian delicacies ) ! :D

I shall give that a try, next time I can drag my family to an Indian restaurant ;)

So, are there things you like about Germany?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

We see Germans as our brothers. In spirit and in diplomacy.
Personally , on hearing anything German, the first thing that comes to mind is quality and pride.
Also I have a burning desire to attend the Oktoberfest at least once in my lifetime. : D

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I like that! That sounds just great :)
Quality I get. Pride? Is a bit surprising, but ok :)
Haha, yeah, the Oktoberfest. I'm as far away from that, as I can nearly be and since I have no desire to experience that, it's alright I guess :D Way too much Bier and Volksmusik and ppl! ;)
Hope you get the chance to visit it though and when you do: have lots of fun there!

'Pride' part was more like nationalism, and industrious citizens working for a better country. Like I dont know how to put it in better words, just that those things make me happy and proud.

I work in IT, and therefore work with people from your contry on a regular basis, Kochi mostly. Same as everywhere else, some of those people I like and some I hate. I've always asked questions about your country (to the ones I like, hehe) and as a result learnt qute a bit about monsoon, criquet, and the huge social and economical gaps between the population. I'm from Argentina myself.

Happy Independence day and bump

My dad is a die hard fan of Argentenian Football :D

Thanks!!

It depends. Some people don't like Indians (actually they don't like anyone even a lot of Poles), some say you are nice and funny :) And you have specific English accent, we adore it in Poland, it's funny in a cute way :) Not like we have a great accent - maybe that's why we love yours so much :P

also the hot and spicy sauce.. Tabasco i suppose.. that's Mexican too?

Permalink

Oh yeah, but that isn't really the best sauce for tacos, Tabasco is better for seafood. For tacos you want a homemade Arbol/habanero/guacamole/jalapeรฑo/morita sauce, any of those sauce will give you a nice taco and some tears and pain.
