They remove games without giving any notice. It would be nice to know when a game will no longer be sold on steam as opposed to them just dropping the game like they (themselves) didn't know it was coming.

Where is the indicator on SteamDB for a game's impending removal?

This has VERY LITTLE to do with Valve or Steam - and has a lot to do with the publishers and companies that hold the licences to these games.
Steam merely distributes, they provide a platform for other companies to sell their wares. There are very few titles on Steam that they have direct control over themselves. And there are even fewer that they remove from their store because of anything other than licencing problems.

Just look at all the Greenlight and Early Access games that are effectively cheating their audience and Valve just turns a blind eye (Godus anyone? Selling a freemium mobile game for $20 on steam and claiming its fine because the cash shop is ripped out - even though the guts are littering throughout the entire shallow game.)

Regardless, unless there is a problem with a game (like with Hatred recently) - its usually licencing related like with the older Fallout games a while back.

I don't blame Steam for the games being taken down, but I honestly can't believe Gaben wakes up one morning to find a cease and desist letter on his desk from a publisher WITHOUT any notice that it is coming. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Publishers/Developers can edit store page themselves.

It has a lot to do with Valve. Valve could easily implement a system which informs users who have the game on their wish list and postpones the removal for a day or two.

It would be nice if there was a three-day notice or something with an announcement, as you sometimes see in the cases of the Fallout Collection license expiration and what Dark Horse Comics is doing with the expiration of the Star Wars license. This would allow people to fill out their collections while giving Valve and publishers some additional revenue. I don't see a downside to this, but I'm sure there is one since this happens only rarely.

The most annoying things on Steam recently (since over a year now...) are their daily/weekly downtimes...

Thier lack of customer support...

Their money grubbing practices in different regions...

Continue list with what you please

Let me just close with this, gettin' scammed is an old thing...

It's not money grubbing to expect people not to use region exploits to scalp games. People can't actually be trusted not to steal from developers though, so luckily Valve was able to lock everything in exploitable regions.

Truthfully, I don't think an alert will help for the majority of people other than traders hoping to flip the price for a profit. But that's just my take on things :/

"As x person of x company, I have been informed that our license on x part of x game has expired. As a result, we are no longer able to sell it, but are currently working to renew the license. Would you be willing to sell the game for a few more days despite the fact that we can't legally do so? It would certainly make all those consumers out there happy!"

Seems plausible.

Let's also continue to assume that publishers are actually just a single person responsible for everything. Obviously the person who maintains communications with Valve and edits the store pages is the same person who is in charge of the legal department.
