Do you have to actually install and launch the game, or is it enough just to register it to account? My disk space is lacking a bit at the moment...

It will be F2P with upgrade packs like Nosgoth. Maybe they'll make it paid as long as it's in Early Access, but eventually it's just another F2P in your library.
