It's not the same. Gameplay basics are the same, but the level design force you to play in a different way than the first one.

I haven't played it but I hear a lot of people complaining that the levels are too open making it harder to melee stuff without getting shot to death. I also heard the same people saying it's easier than 1 though so I dunno what to think.

From what I've seen I like that the new mask system changes the gameplay quite lot compared to the first game. Still, I'll probably wait for a sale since I have other games to play and I'm not really in a rush to get it.
