Humble Bundle keys are region locked?!

I won Overlord here on SG from an Ukrainian user.

But when I enter the key on Steam...

I live on Spain and the game it is available on Steam on my country. I even tried to add the game from Steam to my cart no problems, it's there for me to purchase (at 75% discount, for 1,24€)

What should I do? Ask the gifter for a region free copy? Mark as not received? Contact Humble Bundle support?

That happened to me too, i won it from an argentinian mate and couldnt activate on Spain... i think the only RAW keys are from EU T1 & T2... The creator of my GA tried to contact HB but didnt have any reply, so we agreed on deleting the GA

The best thing to do is try to contact the GA creator, and explain what has happened. If it's region locked to a certain area they may need to delete the GA and try again with different settings. If it's just not claimable in Spain then ask them to contact SG support for a new giveaway winner.
The GA owner will get a response from the support team within a few days.

Check on steam is this game (Overlord) available in your country.
Maybe simply no.
I dont think that Humble have region lock keys.
Maybe this user bought this game from other store not Humble in this case game maybe region locked.

If you read the thread you can see all Overlord games are available in my country.
And the link he gave me was a humble bundle link (as in https://www.humblebundle.com/gift?key=SOMELETTERS&NUMBERS) so it's not from another store.

if he send you gift link he didn't reveal that key.
So maybe when bundles send they already become region locked? to region from where they was bought.
I hope my giveaway wont have such troubles. I'm from Ukraine too.
BTW i think i had this pack 1 tier too. (had some trouble with credit card and bought it 2 times)so we can try if you want.

I post a message for a support. With question about region limitations. Interesting to hear the answer/

Yes, they have region locked keys. We have a very long thread on this site too somewhere discussing it.

that sucks. i hope my key i bit old for that stuff.
strange because in Ukraine all prices in steam same is in Europe. In Russia prices lower.
So i dont even know why this could happen.

He sent me that "special gift url" from HB, not the Steam Key itself.

if it was part of bundle he bought i think it wont work.
For example i checked my bundle and now it locked for my HB account.
So if i want to gift it i must contact support and ask them to make it free form ownership.
A bit crazy seems, but i dont reveal keys. Bundle seems become "claimed" for you account permanently if it isn't a gift. Not sure but it seems the way it works now with HB.
I'll say later if i would catch trouble with my giveaway.

Yes, some HB keys are now region locked. Contact the creator and let them know.

He needs to send you a HB Gift link, once the gift link turned into a Steam key it'll be locked to region that you revealed the key.

He sent me a HB gift link (as in https://www.humblebundle.com/gift?key=SOMELETTERS&NUMBERS)
Then HB asked for my email and they sent me this:

"Thank you for redeeming your gift!

I went to that link and revealed the key (so I know it wasn't redeemed before), but then when I entered the given key on Steam, that happened :(

not even region locked, im from mexico and won one GA from a guy from Brazil and i couldnt reedem it (Mexico and Brazil are suppoused to be South america region)

had you check steamdb ? some games now only can activate in specified countries, codemasters bundle did that, not all SA countries could activate keys from that bundle

Same region, but many SA countries are locked separately. Especially Brazil, but all others that use own currency.

Why would they lower the price of a one-dollar bundle? Should it be free for CIS people or what? :) Even tier 3s are half of the best Russian prices ever, what is the point of lowering even that.

They could at least let people know that the key is locked, before giving them an option to gift it to someone who can't use it. :o

The publishers are locking them down, and most likely to prevent the massive amount of reselling the CIS, SA, and partly SEA people had on these ROW keys. Now, like their Steam gifts, these keys are locked to their own regions, so they can trade only within themselves for a much lower profit.
It also seems to be a part of a larger picture, where people living in certain regions are gradually getting locked down by all stores to access Steam games in any form only for their own region and nothing else. HB is not the only site that is now dealing with region-locked keys among the worldwide sources.

I agree, HB should tell you a warning like "the HB gift url you're about to create will be region locked to these countries [list of countries]. Do you still want to continue?"

They are finally aware of it, but promised a change like this to be implemented… sometime later. Bundle Stars is already displaying these warnings, so hopefully they'll follow track.
