Is it possible the entry criteria feature has problems with GAs that end next year? I'm trying to create a GA but it keeps listing it under finished GAs although it still lasts more than a week. Unlike my other Finished GA there's no game logo neither and it won't let me go into the detailled view where it shows the rules for this GA.
Comment has been collapsed.
It sounds really strange, the change of year shouldn't be a problem at all.
So it shows it as finished and you can't enter it? What happens when you try to enter?
In your management zone you should see it, is all the giveaway info there ok (apart from image)?
Comment has been collapsed.
I probably set something up wrong but I thought I did everything like with my Super Meat Boy GA.
This is what my Manage GAs site looks like. For my Super Meat Boy GA I used to enter the detailed rules view by clicking on the picture of the game and since there seems to be no link where the picture would be so I don't know how to try to go into detailled view.
Edit: Yea the rest (game name, starting time, end time and level seem to be correct.
Comment has been collapsed.
It doesn't have any image because steam api didn't provide any. It's the same case as steamgifts not showing a game image. I'll put a placeholder for when this happens.
You can access the edit screen touching the little pencil at the left on your manage screen.

I think I explained it wrong yesterday: I'm trying to get to this page (the one where entrants see the rules and take the check if they pass the entry criteria) not this one.
Here's a step by step of what I did in case I messed something up or the set-up process has slightly changed since the last time:

Yes it is. Defy Gravity switched category to Active and Spore (which I had already deleted from Manage GAs) now gets listed correctly as well. Thanks a lot :D Now I can make the Encore GA for my Advent calendar :)
Comment has been collapsed.
I created a Defy Gravity GA to see if I could recreate the problem and although with this one there is a picture and I can open the page I would normally share at the end without problems it still gets listed under finished GAs.

suggestions:
on given list, join all giveaways of same title, just separate them if they are in different category (bundled/unbundled)
Search tool: search who, from GA entries list, does have a certain game
I am sure it is possible, as there is similar tool (not a part of sgtools), but it will be a bit tougher
to give example of what I want - I have made a GA of addon (Mission Pack) for 1st Quake game. Steam store does not say that it is treated as DLC, so steamgifts treats it as standalone game ... while it is not. So after GA has ended, the winner couldn't activate the key (didn't have the base Quake game, but could join the GA). After a few rerolls, I'd like to find someone, who entered this GA and really does have the base game, so that he/she can use this Mission Pack key.
P.S.
Quake I/II mission packs (and probably QIII Team Arena) are not the only games, where their "DLC" are not treated as DLC on steam store, but I don't remember what other game worked that way.

About number 1, I think you are referring to real CV, that goes against the main purpose of the tool that is to tell you a detailed log that explains why you get the final number (level).
About second one, the problem is that usually those kinds of DLC's are invisible to Steam Api so it won't help at all. As a rule of thumb, if SG fails to read it correctly, the most probable thing is that everyone does.
Comment has been collapsed.
About 1st point:
It can still lead to confusion like in example I'm attaching. It's screen from all GAs for certain game that user made (they haven't made more GAs with this game, it's all on screen).
First GA with 1 copy is marked as "bundled"
Second GA with 3 copies is marked as "bundled"
Third GA with 4 copies is marked as "5+ copies" even though 1 st copy of this game is still considered as giving full, bundled CV
Next GAs are marked properly as "5+ copies"
I think that most people look at real value and don't analyze this to that excent that they need to have all GAs listed. It could just state "Snow Light (16 Copies) (X$ Total)". And after you hover over mouse you'd get detailed info "5 copies gives full CV of X, each additional copy gives X-10%X CV = Y CV in total. Or something like that.

hejka ;)

let's start with 2nd one
SG fails here, because steam store site fails here, but that doesn't really matter here (well it does, as that is the whole reason for my problem)
my idea was to check list of entrants for specific game
like I wrote, there is a similar tool. now that I am at home, I can check for it's name. It is MaBaKo: http://swl.mabako.net/
it allows you to check who in specific group has / has not a specific game
this new tool could check not specific group but GA entrants for that same game
in my case, I'd like to check, who, of those who entered my "DLC" GA, actually do have the base game (Quake) so that I can finally give someone this damn DLC
I know that this won't help me in 100% as probably it won't be able to check if someone has the "DLC", that is Steam API limitation, but at least I can limit my list probably by about 90% or maybe ... 100% ;P
and btw, probably I'll start reading more about that API and maybe I'll try to write something myself in C# (or PHP? ;) ) It'll be more fun than checking everyone one by one ... took some time to check half of 1st page ...
and about the first - ok, that was just something I've been thinking about, to check fast how many times something was given and I can easily use search tool of my browser for that, so that's not something I can't live without ;) reason for my post was actually the second thingy
but to clear what I had in mind
it's not list, that was posted by MSKOTOR in the other answer to your post. to convert her image to what I had in mind:
[RED] Snow Light (5 copies) (total xx) (public/group ... that doesn't matter)
[YELLOW] Snow Light (11 copies) (total xx)
or even those two in a single line, if both are bundled or not bundled
so a totalized view for each game in place of full log

So I just noticed that two of the entries in one of my SGT giveaways are invalid entries and atleast one of them clearly fails to meet the requirements (has multiple wins and one non activation, checked with SG Tools) but still was able to enter the giveaway.
Anything I/one can do about this?
Comment has been collapsed.
No they don't, they are only in the invalid giveaway entries.
Comment has been collapsed.
Then they got the URL from another user, so leaked giveaway.
I'd open a ticket about it, maybe you get lucky and they ban them temporary. Apart from that, support will grant you a reroll if they happen to win the giveaway if you provide them the list of valid entries.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thank you for your help Knsys.
I'm not that computer savvy so can I please ask how I could provide the list of valid entries to SG support?
Do I take screenshots of that list or is there a way I could copy that list into a file or something?
Comment has been collapsed.
In my OCD Bliss train I had two winners (out of 30 giveaways) who used leaked links. I requested rerolls and both were approved. All I included was an explanation and a link to the Invalid Entries report (which at the time I wasn't aware Support cannot access). I guess they approved because they trust that I won't be lying on this (and they would be right), but it would be better for them to be able to actually see the report, especially if the reroll request is coming from someone they're not familiar with / a newcomer to this site.
Comment has been collapsed.
In theory you should copy paste the list of entries to a pastebin or some similar service and link it as a proof to support.
Of course being a recognized member can make such things less necessary.
If they want access to list of entries or invalid entries list, they can ask me and I'll grant all mods access to all giveaways entries list (if they have the url ofc).

After all, you are giving us the opportunity to "protect " our Giveaways against selfish cheaters what should be the task of the SG Admin.THANK YOU !

Bug detected: I went to Manage Giveaways and accidentally clicked on one of the delete icons when I wanted to click on "edit". It prompted an "are you sure" pop up, I clicked on "cancel" but the giveaway disappeared from my list. BUT, it wasn't actually deleted because anybody can still access the URL and pass the check, it only disappeared from my "manage giveaways" section.
Sorry in advance if it was posted before, thank you.

Don't know if you have read my previous comment or just didn't take it into consideration, but I actually would like to propose another special feature.
I would like to have a page for anyone who wants to join my giveaways, but instead of only one GA there are more (i.e. 4 different GAs). But the person who wants to enter can only reveal one single link from those 4 giveaways.
I'd like to create 4 different trains that all lead up to one single good giveaway, but people should only be able to board one train. And I don't want to invite them in 4 different groups only for that...
Comment has been collapsed.
I remember reading your previous post, I'm sorry for not answering back then.
The previous post and this one would be really good additions to the sgtools, but for now I'm focusing on features that are on the lines of current ones (more filters, giveaway creator options, etc). Adding completely new features will be a reality when those more simple ones are finished.
Comment has been collapsed.
Is there any API I could use? Mostly asking for a friend
Or perhaps any chance the website could be made more mobile-friendly?
Comment has been collapsed.
Something like this maybe?
Parsing HTML gets tiring after you've done it for a while :P And the error messages aren't the same as the requirements text, ideally I'd just want to show a list of all requirements and which you've passed/failed along with some game details.
Comment has been collapsed.
The first one is feasible, but do you really thing it will get some use? The majority of those "hoarders" are the ones that are giving the most.
The second one is less useful because people use ASF or IM to get cards, so they get played time on most of their giveaways.
Comment has been collapsed.
Interesting suggestion. It makes sense if you believe that all winners should receive games, not matter what. Personally I don't think that a user who (1) cursed the giveaway creator, (2) never thanked any of the giveaway creators for the dozens of games he/she won (including some through leaked links), (3) regifted some of their wins, and (4) won some games multiple times ...still deserves to be delivered the giveaway he/she won (even if Support considers them to be good, as they "already served suspension" for whatever infractions). If you do find them deserving, it's a good suggestion. Too bad I won't be able to enter your giveaways though...
Comment has been collapsed.
There are, but personally I stopped using the option for multiple wins. It's too unfair for people who try to undo their past mistakes but are unable to reach the giveaway creator or get no co-operation from them. I don't think people should be forever doomed to not enter giveaways because of this.
Unactivated wins on the other hand is very straightforward for rule-breakers to undo, so I always use it for sgtools-based giveaways. In fact, for almost all of these giveaways it's the only option that I use.
Comment has been collapsed.
I like the general idea, but not sure the cutoff should be one year. See for example this report from MuIIins. She was willing to help a rule-breaker 9 months after a giveaway ended, but her experience was pretty bad and I doubt she would do it again. On the other hand if it's for someone who had multiple wins last month then she probably would (probably better to ask her than to guess).
There's really no easy solution here, which is why I prefer to get down to the details myself to make a decision rather than use an automated filter.

suggestion from Archi
he of all people (¬‿¬ )
I wouldn't be using it and rather resort to a manual check if requested by s/o legitimately having tried his best. (spoiler, most don't)
I would however like such a timer for VAC-bans, as those are really unsolvable and after 3-5 years can possible be forgiven.
Comment has been collapsed.
It could be done, but that raises some unfair cases like the ones Yirg told about.
I always give games to the winner if support don't allow the reroll, but I understand people who doesn't in extreme cases. I had the bad luck of finding one of those extreme cases where the winner should have been perma-banned for ages but support still did think it was ok, so I delivered but was extremely angry about it.
If more people wants this option, I'll implement it
Comment has been collapsed.
Not necessarily, because in the above example if you specify Level 1+ & 2x Not Received as maximum then the first user will be able to enter, but the second one won't. Which one would you prefer to enter your giveaways, assuming they have otherwise similar profiles?
BTW, I'm not sure if everyone is aware of it (you probably are), but one can hover the cursor over the user's number of sent giveaways to see a tooltip with the number of Not Received and Awaiting Feedback they have. Mine btw is 3 and 1. I sometimes check these in other users' profiles and then look for those giveaways to try to understand what happened :-)
Comment has been collapsed.
True~
But I rarely make giveaways that are less than level 5+ (aside from whitelist and group), and ratio, as you mentioned, could work too... But for those who are in the extreme would just set it to 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 or something (or 9999, whatever doesn't allow any with a single "Not received" to enter)
And I do know of that feature and have considered the "You can just post in the description that 'If you have any Not received games I'll reroll" kind of thing, but most users doesn't bother to read even a single line Dx
Not that I ever read it all if there's a whole novel in it, but at least I read until I can see if it's needed information or not xD
Comment has been collapsed.
On a separate but relevant note - since the advent of SGTools giveaways I switched almost exclusively from doing Level 5+ giveaways to Level 0. 81 of my last 100 giveaways were Level 0 and accessible publicly or to anyone who reads this forum. I wouldn't dream of doing that without SGTools.
Comment has been collapsed.
The only logical explanation is Steamgifts fucked up hard when showing your won games. Since multiple activation checks works only with sg data, and for a retrieved page to be valid it has to be non-blank, complete (proper <html>....</html> tags) and that the parser finds the right values.
So unless steamgifts messed up with values, I'm clueless of what could have happened.
Comment has been collapsed.
Could this possibly happen when multiple giveaways that ended at the exact same time are spread over multiple pages?
I've seen Wishlists for groups where when you go from page to page you see some of the games on every page. (many entries with the same amount of wishlists).
So if the lists are created dynamically with every page request it could happen that one GA appears on two pages.
Comment has been collapsed.
This thread is huge so I apologize if it's been suggested before. This is my first time encountering very visible regifting (with the apollo4x hubbub going about right now) Would it be possible to make a feature where you can search for a game and see all the users who have not activated that game? Because a lot of the regifters that I'm coming across are repeat offenders and seem to only be getting caught now because of the high profile game.
Comment has been collapsed.
Would that also be the case,if SG tools could check how many games of a GA bundle (apart from DLC's) the user already owns ?
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not sure whether we mean the same thing:Before a User can enter a bundled giveaway (example 10 items) SG tools checks the number of games the user already own.The GA Creator can set a max Value (example max 3 of 10 items allowed) to enter the giveaway.
Comment has been collapsed.
Great to see that you're still active, knsys,. Maybe a good feature would be to look at the number of games/DLC owned in the entrant's library and set a filter for it? (Collector/card farmer vs filthy casual)
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, some of my favorite people have large libraries. But it's maybe a coarser-grained alternative to the whitelisted game requirement.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'd like to be able to create GAs for people with small number of games on steam. It can be alternative for "wishlisted from x" GAs - people with small libraries (and when they don't play only in DOTA 2 or CS:GO xD) are more likely to really want to play the game and not only farm cards from it etc. And I often find out games that I want to play by lurking in the forum, and I keep my wishlist small in general (so I don't put there every game Steam has to offer :D) - so people like me aren't able to participate in "whitelisted events".
I know that lots of games on steam =/= card hoarder, but from looking at my past GAs it looks (most of the time) just like that. People turn on Idle Master and farm cards for hours. Maybe they want to play into games they win at some point, but I saw unplayed, farmed games from 1 - 2 years back. One game was farmed 5 months after being won and left (so someone has got really big "farming backlog" xD) - and it was AAA title, not some bundle crap.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not sure how large you want to grow sgtools, but one thing that has irritated me as a puzzle maker is that itstoohard isn't integrated with Steam OpenID for account creation. It's actually rather quite limited as what the puzzlemaker can do. It also only displays the first 10 solvers of the quiz, and people can submit answers as anonymous. There's no way of telling if your puzzle is leaked other than comparing the number of players from each successive quiz or the number of final giveaway entrants (which smart people would be careful with). Hosting a similar service with detailed logs would be so much better. (Who accessed what when, if they solved it within a minute of entering, despite no answer sharing). It may strain your server capacity though. I also don't know if support would reroll based on people cheating puzzles in this manner.
Comment has been collapsed.
The puzzle thing was discussed before the giveaway part was a thing, but at the end there won't be a better protection that what we have now.
The problem is that at some point you have to give the url, so leaking is unavoidable. It would be a bit better than with ITH because we could keep a track of who answered, but they can share answers anyways.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hmm, interesting. I thought with all of the auto-enter extension scripts a similar thing could happen where you could click an "enter giveaway" button on your site, and then your site sends a request to SG to enter that particular giveaway. Then again, I have no idea what is possible and computer science is wizardry.
Comment has been collapsed.
So, in the past month or so, I went on a giveaway spree.
I would say about 80% of those gifts went to people that I wasn't "perfectly comfortable" with.
So that got me thinking...
I've seen a handful of people that have gifted less than 20 games, but have won over 150.
I've seen some people that are level 6 but have given less than 10 games.
Bottom line is, I want to give gifts to people that want to give, so I'm interested in a way to filter out certain entries.
However, not everyone has the capability to maintain a 1:1 ratio, so they give out bundled games instead.
Likewise, there are people that give out non-bundled games and not a lot of bundled games, so their "amount given" ratio seems low.
So, for examples sake, something like this would be super awesome:
1.) Assuming the addition of "amount given", instead of RAW or REAL dollar values, a compound or statement such as this:
Minimum 0.5 "amount given" OR Minimum real CV sent: 100
I went through each page to see if anything like this has been suggested.
Looks like Yirg suggested something similar, statements with a bit more complexity: http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/jFlpd/sgtools-future-new-tool-opinions-suggestions-ideas
I'm at work while typing this, so if anything seems unclear or if you have questions, feel free to poke me.
Comment has been collapsed.
The "amount given" exists, is the "Minimum Ratio for number of Sent/Won Giveaways" property.
The OR part of the formula is what it's missing right now. You can always create 2 giveaways in sgtools for the same game with different requirements and post both.
Comment has been collapsed.
Is there a way to give number of won, and sent to the requirements? Ratio is really risky when people sent only a few games - 1 sent 1 won = 1 ratio, 2 won already drops it to 0.5. I think CV ratio, or even more, real CV ratio matters at higher levels, where it quite obvious that the person has at least some funds to give - at level 1-2 even the willingness to create giveaways ( = number of giveaways) seems like a more fair approach at filtering, makes it easier to create giveaways for the lower leveled users.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thank you for the quick reply, knsys! :)
Never considered making two separate links in SGTools before, that's a nice workaround.
My views are similar to adam's, having a hard limit would give a bit more flexibility.
Some people intentionally want to create giveaways to lower level people, but they want to impose, for example, a maximum 50 giveaways won limit.
There's also a use case where, for examples sake, I'm okay with people that won 5 giveaways and sent 1 game, but I'm not okay with people that have won 500 but sent 100 - even though their ratios are the same.
A few more ideas:
Maximum days since last VAC ban (All credit goes to zibo86)
Maximum days since last multiple win
Maximum days since last not received gift
Minimum days since last won gift (Not sure how good of a use case this would be :P)
Comment has been collapsed.
@knsys: Is "Registered:" since (days, months, years) already on your Todo list ?

Did you change something in the code recently? Suddenly when I try to access giveaways that use the tool I get rejected and told my account is flagged for unactivated wins or a private profile, but neiher is true. I haven't changed my privacy settings since joining SG and all my wins are activated and marked as received. I never had any trouble entering such giveaways prior to yesterday. I hope this is something that can be fixed. I don't like being excluded from giveaways for not meeting requirements when I do, in fact, meet the requirements.
Comment has been collapsed.
Just noticed that the "Real CV for Won Gifts" calculation suddenly omits around 10-20% of the won GAs, they are simply missing on the list. From what I can gather it affects some but not all multi-copy GAs.
If I see it correctly all group+invite GAs with multiple copies are not counted anymore.
Comment has been collapsed.
It omits them because sgtools is unable to tell if you marked as received the giveaway or not.
Why is this happening? Because Steamgifts only tells us 3 names that marked as received. Since the giveways are wishlist/group/private the parser cannot enter to really check the activation status, so it counts them as the safe option "not marked as received".
I opened a thread some time ago to suggestions, to always put the name of the user you are looking the profile of at the beginning of the marked as received displayed part.
Comment has been collapsed.
The amount of not-received is negligible though. Read some time ago it was just a few %. Most of those are single bigger fake GAs from new users not understanding the site etc.
Multi-copy are most often dev GAs that are far less likely to be problematic.
The issue now is, on average the calculation deviates from the real amount way more than previously. Next to everyone now has a (wrongly) lowered value by a significant amount than compared to the very few users that had a slightly too high value before.
Of-course I fully support your avenue to correctly solve the issue, but still think the new method is considerably further from the real target and thus should be reverted.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'll make them count towards RealCV but not on Rule checking.
That measure was taken because some legitim user had a not received on a multiple copy giveaway that of course he couldn't activate and was flagging him for having a not activated game.
EDIT: done!
Comment has been collapsed.
not on Rule checking
oh I never asked for changes there. It makes perfect sense to exclude it there as false positives have a severe effect.
done!
thanks!
a small suggestion. Most often the "can't verify if received" just points out DLC which isn't reliably detected either-way.
Is it possible to shift these cases to the general DLC section, where it would it would only be shown when opening the "show me those DLC"?
That way the separate "can't verify" section would focus on only the relevant cases with full games.
Comment has been collapsed.
I only check types when the giveaways are being marked as not activated, so when I get the cannot be verified I just skip the following steps.
There aren't that many "cannot be verified" and I expect CG to fix the name thing, so I'll wait a little before considering to implement this as I want as little queries to db as possible.
Thanks for the suggestion :)

Knsys out of curiosity does the no VAC bans requirement include or exclude Game bans and Trade bans?
Game bans are (from the Valve FAQ) : " Playing games should be fun. In order to ensure the best possible online multiplayer experience, Valve allows developers to implement their own systems that detect and permanently ban any disruptive players, such as those using cheats."

When people use "non-activated wins" as a rule for giveaways, does it include the yellow ones? I have a DLC on my account that is certainly activated (and SGTools picks it up as possibly not activated in yellow) yet I can't enter a small giveaway through SGTools because it's marking me as having unactivated wins. I have definitely activated all wins on my account.
Comment has been collapsed.
I did a bit of research into the problem. I managed to reproduce it. It has to be one of 2 things:
1) When you read a private profile you are incorrectly caching the results.
2) When a profile is first changed from private to public in steam, there is a delay until everything is available through the API.
I normally keep my profile private (friends only). I open it whenever I need someone to be able to access it. To reproduce the problem I did the following. I tried to access a giveaway with my profile private. When an error was displayed I then went and changed it to public. I retried the link but the error persisted. SGTools picked up that I owned the game so it started seeing my profile but still said I had unactivated wins. So the rules checker is blocking me. If I go to the nonactivated page then it correctly shows the 3 DLC's in orange.
I am leaning towards the latter because when I open my profile to sync with SteamGifts, there is a delay before it picks up my wish listed items.
Comment has been collapsed.
The only part that is cached is giveaway section, it has been said tons of times. That's why other calculations are real time but giveaways not.
The reason is mostly for avoiding abuse and a little bit to avoid parsing. When the anti-cheater system is ready, you'll be able to sync with sgtools anytime you want.

I used Greasemonkey script to add links to sgtools, but it doesn't work anymore for some reasons. Script was created by SilentGuy, but i can't find thread, so i report about this here

My suggestion:
Only able to enter if you do not already own game X
The idea behind this is that we often make giveaways for Deluxe, Complete or Game of the Year editions that include the base game and sometimes only cosmetic DLC like skins or soundtracks. Under the current SG system, people who already own the base game game X can still join the giveaway for the deluxe edition of game X and you have to ask support for rerolls.
When you are able to exclude people like this you not only stop regifters but also help SteamGift's support a lot.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hello knsys,
please consider that again or add this as a additional option for the giveaway Creator if he would like to use this feature. The giveaway Creator can enter a few AppIDs.If a user already has x numbers of these AppIds he can't enter/doesn't get the real steamgifts URL for this giveaway.
It's worth a try :)

option to refresh cache for those people with private profiles so we can use this just like sg, turn public for couple seconds and then bac to private

Hallo,
since two weeks i cant enter some gifts because i get always a wrong message form sgtools
"Your account is flagged as having some unactivated Wins or your profile is Private"
Both is not the truth, my profile is not private and i have no multiple wins - there are days it works and i can enter , than there are days (like today) and i cant enter such gifts?
Is this a temp. known problem with sgtools? Can there be something broken in my SG-account ?

I'm thinking in extending SGtools with a new and huge functionality, but before implementing it I would like to know if people really is interested in the idea and will use it.
The idea is to make a more flexible filter for private giveaways, but what does that mean?
You'll be able to create a set of rules for your giveaway and input a private giveaway URL. People (and you) will use "login with steam" to identify themselves and the tool will give him the url if and only if they met all the restrictions.
Once a user is given a giveaway URL, he'll be flagged as a valid entry for that giveaway. When the giveaway finish the creator will be able to check if the winner is flagged as valid, if that is not the case you'll be sure that he got the url following the rules.
What kind of rules/filters will you be able to use?
The giveaway creator will be able to see in the tool's giveaway page a list of the people who got the giveaway link and a tool to check if an entry is valid as detailed before.
Any suggestions or ideas are welcome, even those who think that this tool will be useless :)
