Hoping these gibs get me to level 5!

Out of the Park Baseball 18
Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville
Overcooked

Edit: I should probably mention that my poll question is purely hypothetical. I know for most of us it's basically impossible :D It's just a nice thought! My favourite approach so far is from stlpaul, and I quote: "I have no mental concept of backlog. I play whatever I feel like playing at any moment for fun, to relax. No pressure.". I'm gonna try and have that mindset as well from now on, I think I would enjoy my games a lot more that way!

If you ever completed every single game on your backlog, what would you do to celebrate?

I'm slightly obsessed with survival games so putting more time into one of the many that I own would be my choice :)

I've been getting into survival games a lot lately, too. :)

I really like Wrongworld. It's still in Early Access, and I'm hoping there will be a lot more content coming, but it's pretty fun as it is now.

RimWorld is amazing, too. I haven't had a chance to get back to it properly since a couple of releases ago. Beta 18 is out now, so I'm really hoping to have some time to update and play that soon.

And I've had my eye on Subnautica for ages, but haven't yet bought it. A friend picked it up last time it was on sale and planned to play it for a few hours while he waited for Shadow of War to download. He's put about 50 hours into it since then and has forgotten about Shadow of War. :D

Thanks for the heads up on Wrongworld. Have added to my wishlist. Rimworld is already on there :)

I have Subnautica as well and it's awesome. I haven't put as many hours in as your friend but I will one day. I decided to wait till it's fully released before playing again. Also, the backlog was calling :P

I recommend The Long Dark if you haven't played it already. I put a lot of time into the survival mode before they released the story part. Just a great, atmospheric survival game!

Yes, The Long Dark is on my wishlist as well! It's currently on sale, so I'm seriously contemplating buying it, but I keep thinking that it looks like the sort of game that Humble might put into a monthly, so I keep holding off.

Decisions, decisions ... . :)

Ha, that's a really odd coincidence! I was holding off buying it as well at one point because I got it into my head that it might be in the upcoming Humble monthly. I even created a post about it. Maybe the poll or some of the the replies can help you make a decision. It's worth getting in any case :)

Hahaha. Brilliant! :)

I hold off on a lot of things because I think they'll be bundled. Then I finally get sick of waiting for them and buy them, and normally they get bundled within a month or two. sigh Oh well; it's the nature of the beast.

I'll get it one day, but my backlog is so large at the moment unless it suddenly goes on mega sale, it won't be soon, I think. :)

That's usually the same for me as well. But you're right, that's just how it goes. And I also talk myself out of a lot of purchases (which is probably for the better :)).

I'm actually quite close to achieving this and I'm really excited about it. Once I'm done with the backlog, I'll be replaying some of my favourite classic games that I already finished multiple times before like Warcraft 3, Heroes of Might and Magic III, Dungeon Keeper, Red Alert + Command & Conquer, Thief and early Splinter Cell games etc.

I envy you :D How did you stop yourself adding more games to the backlog?

Permalink

I never had to stop myself at all because I'm extremely picky to begin with :) Rocky financial situation kinda helps too because I'm already interested in very few games (like 3-4 currently) and can't buy them all at the same so new game acquisition moves quite slowly for me.

Congratulations on the level up :)

Thanks a lot Lenor :)

My financial situation isn't exactly stable either, but I can't resist cheap bundles (like tier one on humble), even if I'm only interested in one of the games. I should be more picky as well!

Man... I miss Jack :D

"You can look the other way once, and it's no big deal, except it makes it easier for you to compromise the next time, and pretty soon that's all you're doing; compromising, because that's the way you think things are done. You know those guys I busted? You think they were the bad guys? Because they weren't, they weren't bad guys, they were just like you and me. Except they compromised… once."

I miss Jack, as well.

Man, 24 Legacy was such a disappointment :'( And I was so excited for it, too. I liked it through the first 2 or 3 episodes, and then kept telling myself they knew what they were doing. I was so wrong...

I haven't put myself through that disappointment yet ;) I could already tell from the trailer that it didn't feel like 24 somehow and not just the lack of Jack.

I'll watch it one day. Maybe when I complete my backlog ;)

I was actually a fan of the trailer. Maybe that had something to do with it.

Honestly, it'll only be worth watching if you have someone to make fun of it with. My wife and I did that through the whole thing. It was a shitshow -_-

Ha, it's really funny that you say that because that's exactly what my wife and I did to get through Designated Survivor! The first series starts out as a cross between 24 and a political drama, and by the end it's mainly just a political drama and is really boring. We watched the first three episodes of the second series and it's the same, but worse :D We were just poking fun of it and actually it was so bad we didn't watch any more episodes after that. Never thought I would hate anything with Kiefer in but DS is just terrible. Don't bother watching it!

Will never happen. I'm increasing my backlog since the times of the Commodore 64. I still have to finish Impossible Mission II and Olli & Lissa. Not counting all the Arcade, NES, SNES, MEGA, N64, Gamecube, Wii, PS2 and PS3 games I've yet to emulate.

Sounds like your backlog is basically every game ever made ;)

Almost. he. Not every game, but a dozen for each console, and my steam backlog, and... Too much.

And we are not adding books, movies, comics, places and music backlogs. :p

TV & Film too ? :/

Very unlikely for that to ever happen. It would take me several years just to beat the games I really want to play, let alone the mediocre ones + whichever ones I'll keep acquiring along the way.

Yeah, I know. It's the "ones I'll keep acquiring along the way" which are a problem for me as well. Some bundles are just too tempting!

I hope you don't mind, but I quoted you in my ticket description. Your comment really got me thinking about how I play games. I probably put too much pressure on myself to complete games when I should just be enjoying the experience! Thanks for this :)
