Poetic bump 2.0

The Drunkard's Child

He stood beside his dying child,
With a dim and bloodshot eye;
They'd won him from the haunts of vice
To see his first-born die.
He came with a slow and staggering tread,
A vague, unmeaning stare,
And, reeling, clasped the clammy hand,
So deathly pale and fair.

In a dark and gloomy chamber,
Life ebbing fast away,
On a coarse and wretched pallet,
The dying sufferer lay:
A smile of recognition
Lit up the glazing eye;
"I'm very glad," it seemed to say,
"You've come to see me die."

That smile reached to his callous heart,
It sealed fountains stirred;
He tried to speak, but on his lips
Faltered and died each word.
And burning tears like rain
Poured down his bloated face,
Where guilt, remorse and shame
Had scathed, and left their trace.

"My father!" said the dying child,
(His voice was faint and low,)
"Oh! clasp me closely to your heart,
And kiss me ere I go.
Bright angels beckon me away,
To the holy city fair —
Oh! tell me, Father, ere I go,
Say, will you meet me there?"

He clasped him to his throbbing heart,
"I will! I will!" he said;
His pleading ceased — the father held
His first-born and his dead!
The marble brow, with golden curls,
Lay lifeless on his breast;
Like sunbeams on the distant clouds
Which line the gorgeous west.

A poem about a bump

Long nights and dreary days
did find me here
laying upon my bed.
Dreaming no more.

For that which I could not
find a place of
warmth and comfort to rest
and call my own.

For I, but a humble
person and crab
who doth wish make happy
givers, not leechs

Could not find a place where
I could share the
joys of video games
with peeps like that.

Then one bright, fateful day
Among the threads
Past the trains and cat gifs
I found something.

Something small but so dear.
A small lil' group
Where they prefer to give
more than receive.

"Preposterous" I said,
"Such persons are
rare enough but a whole
group? Ludicrous!"

Yet here it was before
my very eyes.
Where the ratios are
beyond stellar.

Where they do not care to
win equal to
what they give nor more so.
They like to give.

Nothing more. Nothing less.
Just be kind and
Just be charitable
And you can join.

"Pff, I still don't believe"
I said aloud.
"I'll ask for an invite,
and then I'll see!

A nefarious trick
or some lil' scam
by this 'Delta' fellow,
I just know it!"

And with that, I typed out
"May I join, please?"
And waited, knowing that
I will catch them!

And sure enough, they came.
They took the bait!
I was now a member!
The search began!

And so I looked around,
Both long and hard.
In every corner, thread,
and giveaway.

But nothing. I could find
nothing that would
confirm what I had thought
to be the truth.

That is when I realized.
There is no lie,
no deceit nor some trick
to be had here.

Just a small group of peeps
Who like to give.
Nothing more. Nothing less.
Just like to give.

That is when, my dear friend,
I realized I've
found what I was looking
for. This group here.

Just a small group of peeps
a few kind souls,
givers who never leech,
caring to all.

This is why I wrote this.
This odd lil thing,
a haphazard poem
as a lil bump

We are a group of peeps
We give a lot
and do not ask of much.

And if you like to join.
you just have to
answer one lil question.

Do you like to give gifts
and rarely take?
