SG+ V2 was being created during testing, so expect it to pop up soon.

Sorry for replying to this reply, but I wanted to get this link as close to the top as I could for people to see so they don't need to ask where to find it.

Sadly the development has stopped at a certain point. Maybe the others continued the work, gotta have to get in touch with 'em again.

definitely interested. SG is basically unusable for me without it. ^^

Why? A lot of its features are now included in stock sg.

Update github for the people willing to experiment then ;)

There is no filter in that version of SG+ and will probably never be. There's no point in duplicating features already present on the site.

The built-in filter is terribly limited in addition to being slow.
For one, I can't get rid of those damn Star Wars THIS Star Wars THAT Star Wars AND HIS MOTHER, with just one "Star Wars*" entry, I need to filter them out one by one.
It's a messy headache, and impairing my ability to use the site.

The built-in filters are a lot better than the one in SG+ since it's a lot faster and doesn't waste bandwidth by sending you boatloads of useless data you're going to filter out anyway. That means faster load times for you, reduced bandwidth costs for cg and a more stable website for everyone.
The only drawback is you can't use wildcards (which would be painfully slow) and can't currently filter out games unless you see them on the main page.
It's a messy headache, and impairing my ability to use the site.
Like to exaggerate much? How hard can it be to spend 5 seconds to hide a giveaway you'd want filtered out? And once you've done it, it's gone for good. Wherever you log in, your block list follows you without the need for any add-on. (That's the thing I hated the most with SG+, having to filter the same games on every computer I use, and still see the games I had filtered out when logging in at my parent's or on my phone.)

No, that will probably have to be done via scripting unless cg decides to add it.

I honestly wonder what kind of system you are using if you're noticing the difference in page load time, for a long time now web pages have been transferred in compressed form and for me there is no difference on a 5 years old machine.
Client side additions are instantaneous, constrast the current system where it takes 10 to 20 seconds to go through the whole process, assuming it works first time and it doesn't get stuck.
Not much eh? except I have hundreds of games to add and after each addition the view is reset to the top of the page and I have to browse the whole page again to find the next game = more wasted time.
It's boring, clunky, and a massive waste of time - as a consequence I'm finding myself not using the site as much.
edit: I just tested the filter now and it's taking way less time than in the past days, fingers crossed it stays that way.

The client side addition is faster when you're hiding the giveaway because it simply removes what's already on your screen. The server side implementation takes a couple of seconds to send the request, add the game to the database and reload the page. (Which is 5 seconds, top)
Where it's much faster to do things on the server side like now, is when you're viewing giveaways. If there are 10 pages of giveaways, but only 3 of them not in your filter, the client site addition still need to load 10 pages of giveaways then remove the filtered ones from the screen. The server filtering will only show the 3 unfiltered giveaways on a single page. If you can't see the difference in loading time between one and 10 pages, then I won't believe you have any wait time when adding anything to the filter.

It's not about what i believe, it's just cold hard facts. It's faster to remove hundreds of giveaways from the result on the server then send the remaining pages to you than it is to send all of them and having your browser hide them.

I'm definitely interested. I might even be able to put some time on it once it gets a bit less crazy at work here.

It would be a lot less work if those who WEREN'T interested dropped you a message!
Would be great to see SG+ back, as it plugs a lot of gaps in the website functionality :)

Well, I don't have anything to do with it myself, but I know one of the guys working on it. He passes me code then asks me to tell him how it fails (I'm using Scriptish instead of GreaseMonkey because Monkey always had problems for me).

I would be very much interested in filters we can apply regarding giveaways shown.

That would be fantastic, it helps a lot on the giveaway section =)

You don't, for now, and also, I dont have any SG+ related repositories, I`ll set up a post later this week to explain better...
The only repository that is actually mine is hosted under my account in Github and it is also broken with the released version of SGv2

Yes please and styles, like the dark style @ http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/iO230/userstyle-sgv2-dark - would be welcome also to the script.

I'd also like to see the menu fixed on top of the screen, so I don't have to scroll back to top just to access it. And the comment box for the discussion board replicated on top of the page (with preview, if possible).
And a pony. And world peace.

The pony and world peace are probably the most broken parts of it. They might actually be unfixable.
