+1 This. I mean.... I did what was "needed" for that not to happen, yet, it happened.....

"The last time we saw The Walking Dead it was lying in a pool of blood, waiting to rise again as some sort of brain-hungry second season. The bastard game hadn't so much jerked the tears from my eyes as attached wild horses to the ducts and had the muscular beasts run toward the horizon for a couple of hours."

This, Probably
DAMMIT SEPHIROTH!
In actual fact... no idea. Almost always relating to character deaths, I guess. Like, as mentioned above, end of TWD S1. When...
Clementine shoots Lee, rather than letting him becoming a zombie, or does, and either way ends up leaving him, after all he did for her.
Or... the entire To the Moon game.

Gone Home was only sad because it was such a terrible game.

Even if it was free it would still be a waste of time. It set itself up to be some sort of murder mystery and ultimately failed on that.

No, that's simply what you were expecting. Not this shit again.

I was expecting it because it set itself up to something like that. From the price to the atmosphere.

I'm not just talking a crime or something, my point is that it didn't set itself up well for a lesbian love story.

Yeah, that was kinda sad...
What am I saying?! I wasn't prepared fot it, and honestly I even droped a tear when Red died. And this happends quite seldom, even after the saddest movie I am not touched, I guess video games hook me much more

Brothers: a Tale of Two Sons
I was showing it to my 5 year old daughter and I couldn't stop crying.

Seeing it is sad, feeling that dual stick gameplay change is just beyond words.

the story is just one of the best in video games history
First of all I liked the game and it really has some amazing set pieces (like this battlefield with the giants) that I really wish had some backstory even thought it wouldn't fit into the game.
But the Story of the game is (sry if something is wrong but it's already some time ago I played it) two brothers are on a journey to find something to cure their father.
It's as simple and original as the typical Hero saves the princess plot.

The bittersweet end I've got on The Cat Lady, probably.

The Cat Lady is still so underrated. A fine example that you don't even need polish or gameplay to create something that sticks with you. Shame the creator hasn't tried to make a new project, because if they did a kickstarter they'd definitely get funded for it.

True. It is definitely one of the best games I've ever played. The writing and the story are so strong that every other aspect, for unusual as it is, can be overshadowed by how much you can attach to the characters.
But the dev is working on a remake of Downfall, his previous game, featuring Joe Davis (that appears on The Cat Lady). He don't speak much about it tho. Only recently (January 20th) he released a trailer, so maybe that is why you haven't heard about it yet.

The original didn't had voice acting and the style was a bit different. But the weird art, atmosphere and fantastic soundtrack were already there. I was going to play it just as I finished The Cat Lady, but then I've heard about the remake on progress, so I decided to wait.
The new will totally fit in The Cat Lady design.
Here is a video of beginning of the first.

Alright, I know that it sounds silly, but the first time I played Bioshock Infinite. When I finally understood the ending, I felt sad for some reason.
SPOILER ALERT
I think it's the thought of the entire world you played in, the characters you met, Elizabeth as she is, yourself as a person who discovered so many strange thing about you and your "pasts", all of this vanishes. It won't exist anymore. It actually technically never existed. I don't know, I guess I just didn't expect it and it really made me think.

This. Completely forgot how big of an effect Mother 3 had on me

In Shelter, when (real spoilers ahead) ( I warned you) one of my babies got taken by that giant bird, and a little later two more got snapped away from me during the night :'(
I stopped playing there, but I read the ending, and it's even worse ...

+1 The first time I played it, I didn't loose a baby until the night section. After hearing the noise it made as it was being killed, I quit playing for a few months. Eventually I went back and did a full play through. I'm not going to spoil the ending, but it has some mixed feelings, it's sad and beautiful. Shelter 2 also contains those same feelings :'(

When you see Arthas returning from Northrend and his father is glad to see him and then rip...

That moment (or maybe beginning of next mission) made me wonder "if Arthas is Kerrigan, who will be Tasadar in last mission where good-guys will ally to kill zergs, I mean undeads". Turns out Tasadar was changed into Tree :P
Such a Starcraft's storyline copy paste :(

Can you elaborate what happened in Fallout 4? I'm too lazy to finish it.

+1 yup.
Didn't like the game that much over all but damn, did it make me cry..
Comment has been collapsed.
I wish I could feel the same, but since the ending of the previous episode, the thought of "well, here is a segment that will contribute nothing to the plot" killed most of the potential drama for me.
The "normal" ending of episode 2 was a genuinely sad moment though.

Undertale on an almost true pacifist run.
You have to kill the final boss at least once, even if you didn't kill ANYONE ELSE through the entire thing. I didn't want to kill, well, you know, because he didn't want to fight really. I died like a dozen times before I finally killed him just because I didn't want to attack.

Apart from the two +1s I already commented, I remember bawling my eyes out over the ending of the Professor Layton and the Last Specter DS game when Loosha sacrificed herself for a little girl whose name I forgot.
That game came out 5 years ago, so I was like, 15 or something? Yeah, it's a kids game but good god, why you gotta do this to my feelings?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, I doubt anyone here actually played it. I just always loved these puzzle games but damn the story!

Haven't played that one yet, but ^5 for Professor Layton love. Really enjoyed the first two games and can't wait to play the others.

Professor Layton a kid's game? I am not saying it is not, but I am sure that the puzzles would be appealing to all ages. I have played all(!) of them, but since there are so many (and I didn't have infinite time), I was downloading some save files in order to play only the puzzles. Though the story was quite interesting in the 2 3DS Games I have played from start to finish.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, alright. I just meant it was made so even kids could play it. It's not a super cruel and bloody shooter, but very child-friendly.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh cool! I've played all of them for the DS, though unfortunately I don't have a 3DS ('cause I think it's kinda stupid) so I didn't play the two (?) games that are out for that one. Just buying a 3DS to play one or two certain games is 'meh' too.

You could have written it in a way so not to spoil 'em.
Some people may want to play these oldies.

Well, I got a little depressed of doing nothing this days and resume Battleblock Theater which I left incomplete some time ago. The thing is that the end of the game made me feel extreme sadness for some reason. I wouldn't say that's my saddest moment, but it made me think of it. So I open this discussion to know which is your saddest moment of a videogame.
