Finished mine like 1h ago :
6 Win, 3 Lose and 1 Draw resulting in 3258.
Basically I got the Skill Rank in which I played last Season as starting point XD
P.s. Seems like almost everyone who was not a boosted ape got placed in the same Skill Rating as last season, so if you finished in like 2600 - 2700 that's probably your case too.

ELO Hell doesn't exist. Its just a skill barrier that you'll eventually overcome! :) best of luck progressing!

More like: Trolls, Toxic Players, Leavers, or just plainly boosted players... last season I had one player that had the Season High of 4200, meaning he was at one point in the Top 500, so basically the best 500 player on a Region (America, Europe or Asia) and at the end of the season his Skill Rank dropped to 3100~.

If you don't play pre-made it's impossible to get a good rank (above Platinum). So I just play for fun

It's possible, but you just have to be sooooooo good at the game.
Some of the Pro Players made smurf in which the only solo queue and they still made to Top 500 or High Master.

I ended Season 2 with gold rank but a silver score after a devastating 10 lose streak (lost >400 points). I didn't regain much motivation or confidence after being punished so hard for the increased consecutive loses. I otherwise W/L 50:50 so lesson learned: don't get tilted. I now wait a day after losing 2 matches in a row. I'd only play a game or two every couple days or weeks towards the end of the season. So I still don't feel like doing my placements which IMO are more excruciating than normal comp games and likely to throw me in a lower rank this season.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a great player but I at least have fun in Quick Play. I also like to cooperate as a team in both composition and tactics which is why I initially tried competitive - I was tired of the lack of both in QP - but at my skill level, competitive was no better. Perhaps worse given the increased pressure. And since no one cares about team comp, I tend to fill tank or more often healer, putting me at the mercy (pun intended) of the rest of my team.
For everyone saying ELO hell is a myth, I disagree. To me, ELO hell is not just about bad players (me), it's about the lack of cooperation and communication. I think there was slightly less of that lack at ~2100 than at ~1700 and that's a relatively minor difference in score. My goal for Season 3 if and when I start is to always remain positive despite such shortcomings in a match. I started doing that at the end of Season 2 - always being friendly on mic, having faith in the team despite bad insta-lock choices, and complimenting good plays - and I ended up having a better experience even when we lost.

As now however you play your placement you get almost the same Skill Rating in which you ended last season
IDDQD went 2 Win - 8 Lose and got placed 4450 basically 50 SR less than his Skill Rating last season.
Surefour went 10 Win - 0 Lose and got placed 4515~ basically 20 SR more than his Skill Rating last season.
So piratically now however you play your placement you're gonna start with more or less the same rating at which you ended last season.

I was just perusing the subreddit and reading the "2-3 wins and getting placed in GM" threads but those were high ranked players from last season. There were no changes to high tiers, only moving players out of the overly populated gold and plat. I expect a number of plat players will be moved down to gold, and gold players to silver.

I played with a friend, we both went 6W,3L and 1D. And we got placed piratically on our last season SR with 30 more SR point.

Meh, I played like 10 hours in Season 1 and Season 2. I ended up having much more fun in quickplay
I'll probably do some placement matches during the weekend, so I can get my participation bonus at the end of the season. Golden Sonic Amplifier here I come after season 5 lol!

I play QP only when some of my IRL friend want to play since I cannot play with them in Competitive (+1000SR difference) also I've more fun in Competitive. QP is just to troll and be trolled so I don't really like it.

Yea. Well, especially after the recent 1 Hero limit like in competitive, you get quite decent team compositions.

I rarely ever play ranked because of my anxiety of losing ranks, even when I know 100% that I am better than the rank I am in. I usually fix that by solo queue, but other than that I mainly have fun in overwatch by QP and Arcade modes

Won only 3 matches. Got placed in 2918. Friend won 2 and got placed in 2917. Placements was a joke. I feel bad for the lower ranks trying to escape gold/platinum.

So Season 3 just came out.
As before it's confirmed that Diamond is yet again ELO HELL, things seem somehow better at Master.
However let's go to the point, how are your placement games going ?
As now I'm 4 Win, 2 Loses and 1 Draw.
So tell me, what Rank are you in? Is that ELO HELL too ?

Edited : Placement finished with 6Wins, 3 Loese and 1 Draw. Placed at 3258 basically at what I played last season. Time to aim to Master at least for Season 3
