Have been using a Steelseries Arctis 7 for the past 3 years and it may have less than a days life left in it.

If anyone has any posative or negative experiences to share about their wireless headsets or have any suggestions, that would be appreciated. Don't want to spend crazy money, as nice as some of the £300+ ones are, can't justify that on a headset.

Thank you and have a happy new year :)

Here's a small giveaway. [ENDED]

I bought a wireless steelseries headset for i think 30-50, it was on a moderate sale and have been enjoying them for a couple months, though i don't remember which specific ones they are

Playstation Pulse 3D is a nice wireless headset. $99, and you'd be hard pressed to find something as nice for the price. They take a little while to break in though (uncomfortable the first few times you wear them), and probably aren't a good idea if you have larger sized ears.

They're decent for playing on a PS5, but not very good for PC use. Battery life also kinda sucks. They'll work, but the controls are really made for console. I'm using the Arctis 7P+ for PC, and the pulse for my ps5.

I've got a few bookmarked on amazon, but looking into it i quickly figured out that i would prefer higher quality wired over wireless.

Anything wireless is only as good as long as the batteries can be charged, and most companies are gonna want you to buy a new model after a couple years over changing out batteries. So they're very likely to design accordingly.

So while reviews are helpful, i'd keep in mind when budgeting, that you will likely need to replace them every 2-3 years.

Wired stuff is certainly better quality but I like the freedom to move around. Especially when I play D&D, it's nice to leave the monitor. My old hyperX were probably the best quality I've had and were cheaper.

Someone recommended a wireless adaptor, so I might look at some wired or see if my old ones still work.

Yeah, wireless adapter was what looked at too, but they arent powerful enough for the better headsets.

Which is why i landed on focusing on investing in a decent wired headset, or a wireless one under $100 as it will likely get replaced every few years.

Razer Nari Essential, currently the one I am using and the only wireless I ever had, no complains and it's around the same price as the Arctis 7

Thanks for the recommendation. Most the Razor one I've seen so far have been detachable ones, which makes them a point of failure. But that one looks quite decent.

Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless are quite good and on the cheaper side.

I was about to recommend the Arctis 7P but then seen you already have it lol, that's what I use. Love mine.

I try to keep hardware functions separated when they can be; e.g., I prefer a nice pair of headphones with a small separate mic that I can clip on like my current (and sadly discontinued) Sony ECM-CS3, can stand on the desk, or is run in-line with the headphone cable like the V-MODA BoomPro. Likewise, I'd much sooner buy a wireless dongle that I can attach any headphones to, rather than something integrated. Do it this way, and you've got a lot more freedom for upgrades—whether it's better headphones, or a better wireless adapter, and so on. Though it may not look as pretty unless you get crafty with how you stow the adapter.

Unfortunately, I can't personally recommend any specific models here, as while this is something I'm planning on doing myself, I haven't actually done it yet; but this article seems to have some good ones highlighted: https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-bluetooth-headphone-adapter/

In terms of wired stuff I do have a clip mic, table mic and headphones. Mostly don't use them as I like the freedom to walk around the house. But will have a look a wireless adapters.

Actually im thinking of buying the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7. Any reason why you don't buy another one?

It's just the Arctis 7 that I have, the Arctis Nova 7 is an upgrade.

The 7 had some issues; mostly it was just the overly aggressive low battery sound. And as the battery has been fading that's become a more frequent issue. The software can also be a bit inconsistant. But over all it's not a bad headset, it's just a few mild annoyances. Also was hoping to get a bit more than three years out of it; but the ear pads, microphone, leds, batteries and chat volume are failing and it starts screaming if I even touch the chat volume controls by mistake.3

The Nova 7's do look like a decent upgrade in quality. Although some reviews seem negative about the mic quality. Think the Nova 7X looks like the best one as it has chat volume, while the Nova 7 and 7P have sidetones (hearing your own audio) volume control instead. Also seems like the Nova 7X is compatable with PC, Xbox and Playstation. While the 7 and 7P are only compatable with PC and Playsation.

The 7+ and 9's seem to have lower quality plastic by the sounds of reviews. So I was a bit concerned the Nova's would have the same issue but reviews seem more posative. And watched a review of the Nova 4X where the guy tested out the durability a bit and they seemed robust.

Well I went for the Nova 7X.

Ignore what I said about the chat volume. Even though the Arctis 7 has the feature on PC and both amazon & argos word it as being on the PC, turns out it's an xbox exclusive feature. The only place I found the actual info is small text on the official steelseries website. Found options for it.

Sound quality is technically great but unless the headset audio is below half way there is a noticiable static, especially in quiet moments. Playing around with audio settings has helped but not a lot.

According my friends the microphone is crystal clear.

Mild annoyance but switching the headset on isn't instantaneous. There is a moment of no sound, then low sound and after a few seconds it plays at proper volume. This has lead me to almost blowing out my eardrums thinking the volume was on low.

With the static noise and missing feature, will probably return it :(

Doesn't the chat volume wheel work in the SteelSeries app? That's what I've heard, but have no experience with it myself. I've been tempted to go with the Nova 7X multiple times but I've heard about the annoying static which has held me off from buying it.

Okay, I got chatmix to work even though the website and support said it was xbox exclusive XD

There are options for it under Sonar in the Steelseries GG websites.

I don't know a lot about headsets, but I got one some time ago, and these two were my only options: Razor Barracuda series or Xbox headsets. I got Barracuda and my friend Xbox headset, both are great imo.

I buy these for work staff that want a headset. Cheap, both wireless and wired and work well.

I use AfterShokz, I have the Aeropex, looks like the openrun/pro is the slightly newer ver.
I like my ears open so I hear my surroundings but can still listen to music without anyone
else hearing them. Works great in the office. My brother likes them on the golf course.

Supports multi point. Thats a must have for me so I can seamless switch from computer to phone.

Edit. So comfortable. I can wear them all day and have forgotten I had them on many times so drove home with them.
