Nice, I was waiting for this mod to come out.
I had no idea it would have its own Steam page though. I guess that was what they were speaking about when they said the mod was ready but they were discussing something with Square Enix.

Thanks for the headsup, didn't know about that mod. ^ ^
Edit: Looks good imho.

I just saw the pop-up on steam and I'm downloading it as well, loved the first deus ex :D
I've played it quite late and I've even won it here, loved every second of that game :D

I played only demo back when it was a new game, I already own the original on Steam, but I wonder how much different is this "remake" / "HD mod" from the original, I would hate to play it the way it wasn't really meant to be played if you know what I mean.

From what I've replayed so far, gameplay is the same. Just tweaked lightning effects, high-res textures and updated character models. Also I think the title music is is redone in higher quality.
Finally, turns out it does have 3 game modes though, and looks like the default is the one that changes the least to the original game.

Thanks.
My main concern with HD retextures is that to what extent they are changing the overall look of the game, if it's simply the same thing just modernized, then I am all for it, but if it tries to do something beyond that drifting away from the original feel of the game, then I would rather stick to the original. In this case, I guess I will play this remake rather than the original. I was thinking about playing it for a long time anyway, because I liked the advanced features and really even today some of the game features are outstanding, especially when you realize how old that game actually is and even some modern games could benefit from having some of those features, but they simply don't have them. Deus Ex was clearly an innovative game when it was released.

Oh noes... no no no NOOO! I have to install too. Thank you for the info, I didn't know about this mod. Oh god, I already hear the awesome soundtrack on my head. All tracks merging eachother.

Because if you have the original on Steam, you now have access to this good-looking, officially endorsed mod that pretty much qualifies as a HD remake
Edit:
Now if only they could give Invisible War the same treatment...
Well, there was a good mod for that which pasted the maps together into bigger ones to get rid of loading times/screens, and to give support for more resolutions. That was a great start, but I've lost track of that :/
Edit 2:
If you don't have the game yet, click here
