TL;DR My first train

So near the conclusion of September I had to spend a night in my local ER with a 104ยฐ fever and various other symptoms I won't go into details about. I'm fine now - time and a little antibiotics fixed me up - but the experience left me with over $3.5k in hospital and doctor bills. This caused me to tighten up spending considerably and my giving on this site grinded down to just the minimum necessary to not get kicked out of any groups. In the meantime I won more than a dozen giveaways and my sent/received ratio got uglier and uglier till the point when I logged in last week and noticed I had even slipped below 1:1. That is just unacceptable to me so I added a little debt and bought a few bundles. So now with all that unnecessary explanation out of the way, here's my first train (6 public cars, 3 at the end for my favorite groups)

And here's a little love for the awesome people on my whitelist

Sorry that you got sick, but glad you are fine now. Thank you for the train. Just out of curiosity, what was the diagnosed disease?

Shit, it is a lot of money.
It is good at least you get better.

Do you live in America?
Is health issues always that expensive?

yeah U.S.

I can't really speak to how expensive health issues in general are because I rarely seek out medical attention. The last time I can recall was when I broke my hand several years ago. I had a much better insurance plan back then so it didn't impact me financially like this. That's pretty much the only problem I have with my current employer is that the insurance plans they offer are garbage.

Glad, you've recovered being in a hospital is always ugly unless you're giving birth, but it's not easy either - that's why it's called going into labour Here something to help you smile :)

Glad to hear you're ok now! But that bill... (I know that the money doesn't count if it goes for the health and life, but it's still a large sum)
Thank you and good luck with your ratio!

more than half the bill was because they did a CT scan

$3500 for an overnight in the ER along with a CT scan is below the national average by nearly $1000

The bill before insurance was a little over the national average then. The 3500 was my out-of-pocket

It really sucks to go through that and incur that kind of debt, stoner, and I'm sorry to hear that. On the bright side, though, at least it didn't turn out to be a long-term illness or something much more serious.
