My opinion is that we should have the possibility to make giveaways for games that are listed as freebies.
I don't like to give them away in random discussions and creating an ITH puzzle to give them away rewards only the first solver.

By the way, no one wants people to have random CV for freebies, right?
They may be joined for 0 points and award 0 cv, maybe not even listed in the created GA list.
Also, there could be a dedicated filter for freebies so they don't show everywhere on the page if you don't want them to show.

To make an example, I have a spare The Ship key that I can't give away, but I don't want to leave it to bot ninjas in the discussions.
I know I could use some tricks, but... Whatever, it would be easier with a giveaway, right?
Do you agree with me?

P.S.: I see people said it has yet been suggested. I'm sorry I did it once more, then! ^^

I have no problem with it, I'd just like to give the key away without it being ninjaed.
I mean, I don't want anything for it, but I'd just like to do so. That was not the point, that was an example.

I think this has been suggested before, but yes I agree, creating a GA for free games (without getting CV) would be great.
And if someone's afraid it would add many pages of Gun Monkeys you could always just block that game from appearing ;D

May I ask where to get that these days? Google gives links where the giveaways have expired....

I don't know if specifically Gun Mokeys is still for free somewhere, but I use to check Epicbundle every now and then to know if there are massive giveaways around!

It has already been suggested multiple times.
IIRC the main reason this is not implemented is that all these freebies GAs would slow the website down

Hmm would they really slow it down? I think whenever a game is free it's already spammed all over the site by all people who are trying to get CV by giving it away. Would they still give those games away if they get a red message saying they won't get any CV for it?

A lot of them won't read that message and still think they will get CV for it

Touché, reading has been proved to be quite difficult for some users ;D

I guess you're right, but... I saw SG many times full of tons of the same giveaways, didn't seem to be slow.
Also, I don't really think those GAs would be so many, people would get nothing from it.

The problem is with packs for free games like Dead Island Epidemic, Royal quest, Warframe, My lands, etc, ppl make giveaways for incorrect pack when the correct was removed due to being given for free or intentionally when giving a beta gift for something like dead Island Epidemic, or even non Steam redeemable game like for Warframe, and the worst is that winners in most cases still mark as received, and I saw even level 3 users marked as received this way when clearly not.

I agree on the 0 cv but I still think they should cost maybe 1 point just so the bots can't take them all. Or maybe it yields the same result. It's just a thought.

Yeah, but for example I got The Ship key from a bundle, not from a free giveaway.
The only things I'd give away with this options are Keys I got from bundles and freebies you get from "Random free steam key" giveaways.

Well, if there's a massive giveaway of a game, there may be people who didn't notice it and want the game. (Of course, who DOESN'T want a free game?)

I have voted yes. Many games was free, but if an user lost them, or for a new steam user is a great chance to win them.

bye!

Just idle curiosity here, but am I the only one who saw danielevincenzo's avatar and thought "Is that a blue bear?"
Then clicked on the image and discovered it's actually a dog, which makes more sense...
