Hi,

I don' know if such discussion was already somewhere sometimes but anyway...
Since my registration on SG 5 years ago I used to enter all giveaways just for the quantity of games in Steam. After couple of years I stopped doing it and entered mostly the giveaways of wishlisted games.
Recently while making some clean up and deleting trash from my Steam library I was going to delete several games, but than realized that I won them on SG and if I'll remove them my CV rating will go down and I will not be able to take part in some SGTools giveaway where requirements are "Activated all won giveaways".
Than I saw that couple of these games were removed from Steam.

So the question is what will happen with CV and number of activated giveaways on SG if I delete from my Steam library removed from Steam game which I won here.

Hope I described it understandable )

Like an example is "30 impossible levels".

I know that I can hide them or put in some category, but if I am able to delete some trash games without consequences to SG I would prefer doing so.

Many exist.

If you remove such a game from steam, you will be flagged by sgtools that you got unactivated games, there is no way doing it without consequences.

Normally true, but "30 impossible levels" is already on SGTools whitelist due to it being removed from Steam. I check OPs non-activations via SGTools and he comes up clean... WITH "30 impossible levels" shown as whitelisted.

Okay, but seems he wasn't done quite yet with only that game. Just a warning upfront.

True, that's why I answer him in my post only w/r/t this and other removed games. Since he already seems aware of the problem for the 'normal' games.

"30 impossible levels" is already on the SGTools whitelist for games delisted from Steam. So at least removing that one has no negative consequences here on SG and w/r/t to SGTools checks.
I think that is the case for all officially from Steam removed games. They get whitelisted on SGTools, since it can't check if they are missing from your account due to you not activating them or Steam removing them.

A better place to ask this would be the SGTools thread here on SG, this is the thread: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/b736C/tool-sgtools-new-section-deals

if i were you, i won't risk deleting them from your account, just in case that you'll get flagged with non activated wins on sgtools. maybe you can try to hide the problematic games from your library?

Just hide them in your library instead, problem solved.

as others already explained, you would be safe on SGtools if it was removed from steam and whitelisted in SGtools.
but that doesnt mean you will be safe on SG and without consequences.
SGtools is just a tool to not manually look through your wins and compare to your library.
if someone decides to manually check your wins and couldnt find them, you could get reported for not activated wins and eventually suspended.

btw... i believe there is a way to get games back if you deleted them from your library.

edit: the easiest thing would be just make a categoy you could put those games into, call it trash or whatever

Yup, go to https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpWithGame/?appid=[theAppID] (or just https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpWithGame/ then search for the game name), and click "It's not in my library". If you owned the game in the past and then removed it (not refunded it, obviously), you'll be given the option to restore it

Games that were fully removed from Steam you should be able to remove from your account without negative consequences. Checking yourself with SGTools should allow to see if your account is still in good standing after removing the game(s), and if not you can just restore them.
Idk if the games can possibly be reinstated later though, or become visible in the Steam API, in which cases get you'd get in trouble unless you quickly notice and fix it.

On a side note, I don't really get why people want to remove games from their library... Unless a game is really horrible and I can get a refund for it, I just keep it.

We have the <hide games> function [which also hides it from news feed updates and everything else, not just library], and using it prevents us from accidentally reactivating the game later on, so I also don't understand th mentality of deleting outright [ though, to be fair, the hide function is a frustrating mess, in terms of how it strips away categorizations, and that can cause some issues if you're also hiding things other than just trashware (for example, completed games) ].

That said, so long as noone else is inconvenienced, it's really up to the people involved. Since the delete function isn't permanent anymore, the biggest issue of using it has been removed. That said, you really do avoid a lot of additional issues by just using "hide", so I really would recommend that as always being one's initial consideration.

I definitely understood the mentality before the ability to hide games existed, though. While you could categorize your games into a trash folder, it really was a nuisance having terrible card-farmed games come up in library searches. Further, then and now, I do fully comprehend the impulse towards deleting Digital Homocide "games" and the like [since you did used to be able to get those easily from blind key drops]. Some things really should just be removed... from existence..

As I recall, an update to Steam a while back (I believe around when they brokeupdated the wishlist page) changed it so that ownership of games removed from Steam no longer registered through API. Meaning you could theoretically remove them regardless of any other settings involved.

That said, the correct way, according to SG expectations, to arrange things to get a giveaway removed would be to contact the giveaway creator to request a deletion of the giveaway. By giving them a game of comparable CV value (or by giving them the exact game, so they can attempt a reroll) you can ensure they don't lose out in the matter. Site rules state that deletions are determined solely by whether both parties agree to it, so you don't need to take any additional steps once you've secured permission. (It should be obvious, but harassing or insisting on a user to agree to a deletion is against both site guidelines and basic decency.)

If the GA creator can't be contacted, has been permanently suspended, or doesn't agree with the reroll/deletion, then you should clarify in the giveaway comments (using a new post, so it can be easily seen by going to the most recent postings) that you're deleting the game under expectation that it won't matter, and that you can reactivate it by request. Since staff checks the most recent comments in a giveaway (to determine if there's a legitimate issue) when determining whether to impose a suspension for Non-Activation, this should secure you as far as addressing your site obligations and securements.

Deleting from your library without posting would be a blatant violation of site rules, regardless of whether or not you "get caught" over it. Posting "Yo, I deleted this, k." without first addressing the GA creator properly would be phenomenally rude. In short, it's worth taking the proper steps, in order, if for no other reason than you owe that much as a return for the gift you've received.

If you end up with a blacklist over it, you can just inform staff of the details of the matter through an "other" ticket. Unlike a giveaway comment, you're not secured from any issues, but you can at least point to the "other" ticket and note that the game has been reeactivated on your account, if any issues do arise; That should get your account unsuspended immediately [as opposed to if you didn't have the other ticket to reference, where the suspension'd have to be let run out].

(This whole process of course works for games which haven't been removed from Steam, as well, with the only difference being that you can't just delete the game from library without permission if it's still being synced properly to SG.)

Disclaimer: While the elements noted above have been clarified with staff in the past, staff (and thus site expectations) change over time, and you should always contact staff directly for clarification (and a written source of word-of-god to reference for the future) on any site-related matters before proceeding with any matters that could lead to suspensions.

Yeah, I get you, many of us (myself included) acted this way during our initial period on SG. At least you are among the reasonable ones who've changed their behaviour eventually. And at some point I also removed a lot (like several hundred) of unwanted games from my library, keeping pure trash just for +1 is a bit childish. Still, it's a bit different with unwanted games won here. You might risk no consequences at all if a game is whitelisted (no suspension risk and full access to SGTools GAs), but think of it this way: some person has actually bothered to pay for this game and create a GA, they wanted to share something nice. And then you just go ahead and remove the said game from your library. Wouldn't that be really, really rude?

One detail is wrong.
The suspension risk is still there, as soon as someone check his accounts manual and not with sgtools + report him.

You can't see banned games manually neither.

While it is true that SGTools whitelisted or won't detect removed games, it is an external site and one I doubt is used by mods here to check unactivated wins. You are still breaking the rules on SG and may be punished even if you are clear on SGTools.

I am not familiar with the API issue so correct me if I am wrong, but you can still find removed games on your Steam library if you go to https://www.steamgifts.com/account/steam/games. Another site for example, SteamDB is also able to detect ownership of removed games.

Why would you remove these games...? Even if you don't like them, there are many ways to filter the games in your library, i make playlists for multiple types of games. You are essentially creating a problem out of a "non problem" situation, makes no sense to me. I mean, if you wanted to delete 1 or 2 games you might be ashamed of, sure, makes sense, but deleting everything you don't like when you can simply move them elsewhere so they do not bother you...
This is my library, for you to take an example out of:

  • Favorites (default)
  • Completed
  • Free to play
  • Apps/utility
  • Incomplete (games i deleted halfway through, basically to keep track of what i should finish if dropped)
  • Play... Eventually (games i will eventually pick up)
  • Trash/Ignore (all games i launched and did not like, basically the games i will never touch again, and there are plenty of them considering alot of small indies from bundles are just bad)
  • Dead MP Games (games that focus in online stuff and are dead, there are quite alot of these out there)
  • Broken (games i played but became unplayable or are simply broken)
  • VR
  • Racing
  • WTF (those games that make you go wtf or simply nsfw)
  • Uncategorized (games i have yet to check out and decide where they should go, for the most part they will go to Play... Eventually playlist)

I’m in a similar boat. I used to go for the +1s as well and while thankfully I didn’t win too many games I wasn’t genuinely interested in here, I have a couple that I wish I could have removed. I have a category in my library for SG wins and I’ve hidden the ones I know I’ll never play or that I tried and just did not like. Hiding gets them out of your library but tagging as a SG win helps keep me from accidentally removing something and getting flagged with a non-activated win.

Basically you can’t delete them, which is unfortunate. But hiding and a good tag will keep your library from feeling cluttered and keep you from accidentally deleting a game (which you can just as easily restore, but still).

Actually I use both - hide and categorization - but was wondering if I could just delete all games from "Shit" category. I definately will never play them.
Seems like it's better to keep them just in case...

Anyway thanks to everyone for advices.
