Hi,

I just made a giveaway for the "Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter - Serious 8 DLC", but nobody could enter it. It didn't have any restriction. No level limit, no region ristriction and open to everyone. Still, nobody entered the giveaway, so I deleted it. Is this a known issue, a bug or maybe a feature of steamgift I don't know about? I'm terribly sorry if this is a known issue, but I have no idea what went wrong.

I think Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter is a game that's not properly reported by Steam's API, so Steamgifts "thinks" nobody owns it.

that would make sense if a ton of people that owned it entered.. but nobody entering.... gotta be something else too it.

@MCsquared.. was it public? or a private group GA?

You need to own the base game to enter for the DLC. If Steam says nobody owns the base game, nobody can enter for the DLC ;)

neither the classic or the hd version are DLC afaik.. they are both standalone games.. now if for some strange reason the API is reporting it as DLC then sure i guess that makes sense..

This is the DLC that was being given away
Right there on the store page it says "This content requires the base game Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter on Steam in order to play."

Steam API does not report it, so nobody can enter for DLCs as SG thinks nobody owns it.

You could have let it run it's course. That way you wouldn't have lost any giveaway slot.

Nope, I double checked that. Also, someone saw the giveaway the first time, and commented that he was not able to enter. By now, I guess that the explanation with the faulty Steam API is the most plausible.

It's fact, not just a most plausible option.

Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter is a weird library entry. Rather than counting as a regular game, the purchase is instead counted as a DLC for a free to play game. To enter for something, a user has to own the base, but as a DLC, it doesn't work well.

I'm not sure the F2P version still is available, but the game still works that way.

Nobory cares. SG is based on steam api, steam api is bugged, steam does not fix steam api, cg does nothing to fix it oh SG side. There are more issues of similar nature, all of them unresolved. Maybe someone from support can at least mark this DLC as free to remove it from the list at giveaway creating? If nobody can enter it - it would be better to just avoid those giveaways.
