A friend of mine could see mildly in to the Ultraviolet spectrum. She could not understand why people thought flowers were pretty with the ugly purple veins in the petals.

People can indeed be born with it, too, from what I've read. So that does make sense.
It's a very fascinating thing. I'll most likely read about this for a few hours, perhaps more. Science is one of my favorite things ever.
