Even the altar looks like something hell itself spat out. It's a solid slab of stone in which scenes are hewn of the eschatological apocalypse: the final Judgment; fire and brimstone; a payment in Purgatory. That's what this depicts: a purge. In the middle stand those caught in Limbo, all of their faces chiselled out. As above them appear their oppressors, men made out to be apostles of some sort, so below them appears a sea of fire, like a wicked tide that is to cleanse the world. Behind the altar, surrounding the door to the next room, hang enormous painted triptychs of the same content matter. It gives you shivers to see so much suffering get such a prominent disposition. You want to pass it as quick as you can, but when you put your hand on the ornamental door handle, you spot something significant in these paintures. There, among the many oppressors, you see a young girl in a red mantle, pointing a one-legged boy to Purgatory. You look back in shock, but are too late. A hidden trapdoor opens underneath you, sending you into a yawning abyss, chased by Lisa's mocking laughter.

Limbo is one of those gems that spearheaded indie game development. There's really not much to it in terms of content or story, and I found that the creepy atmosphere it so brilliantly establishes in the opening act diminishes as it goes on, but Limbo is a little pearl for your collection nonetheless.
Have you ever entered a decrepit, abandoned house, and why?
In my final year at college in 2004, me and some friends were shooting a comedy for our media course, and one of our scenes involved a ghost. Now, we have this abandoned house that's in a total state of disrepair, right next to a canal. It's largely isolated and surrounded by trees, so we figured we'd shoot the scene there. Didn't bother checking with authorities, just got in there and did our thing (in broad daylight, might I add.) We just wrapped up the scene when a cop showed up to evict us. Since we were done, we could pack up and leave immediately so we got off with nothing but a warning. And yes, we secretly filmed the police encounter too for a nice "blooper"!

Yes, I did! It was all the way back when I was in middle school. The boys in my class were telling some preposterous stories about one house to scare the rest of us. I've always been this "cold rational nonbeliever" type of person, so of course I called bullshit. We went to the house with a whole group of classmates. It was abandoned, bit ruined and situated near the forest very far from other buildings. Even though the house was small, most of people got scared quickly. I checked every single room, they've all been devastated, but that's all. The spooky stories about that house came to an end shortly after that, sadly not mainly because of me, but because the house was demolished next year and it was forgotten.

We had a place like that and even hang out a couple of times there. There was a home which was empty for a long time and it's backyard was near the sea. That was a good place to drink but no ghost story i am sorry even though we tried to call some.

I have never been to an abandoned building of any, but there is an abandoned mental asylum an hour drive or so away. I want to go there sometime. Apparently it's super haunted, like all mental asylums are. :D
Thank you for the chance!

I don't think so... maybe one, I am not sure.
But I've always wanted to visit an abondoned factory in a village, where some people from my family live.
It's quite old and very dark, it looks like a horror prop ;)

Went to my wife's great-grandmother's abandoned house this summer. It was locked so we couldn't go in (would be dangerous, too), but got some amazing pictures of the 1930's era rusted out cars and collapsing shed.
