The latest piece of tech I accidentally destroyed was one of my monitors... <$200 monitor, so not terrible, but I just secured it very stupidly in my car and a sudden stop cracked the screen. Nothing I could really do but get a new one (actually, found a very nice deal on a refurb one since I have minimal monies). And the keyboard I'm still using is literally 15 years old. :) Completely immersed it in water a couple months ago, but that was intentional -- lots of soap in the water too, and pulled/washed all the keys and let it dry for a week. Still works great -- just a whole lot cleaner now! :)
Yeah I think it's more common with Mac? I seem to remember using a Mac recently with keys like that and it's really hard to get used to. I think the real solution is to not bring food or beverages around it, but I think I'm trying too hard to make it work :P
Dunno, still own a Macbook that's pretty much paper-weight these days (used it for college some years ago), but never owned a Desktop Mac, so wouldn't really know.
But heck, i dislike my own keyboard as is, but damn mechanical keyboards are just too damn expensive and i'm afraid of what happens if i don't get used to them or if i just have an accident like yours... Sending 100€ or so down the drain on the account of a keyboard is not really something i'm looking forward to.
Yeah it's way too much. The only thing I miss about my old keyboard was the media keys. I could skip and pause songs on spotify directly on the keyboard while in games.

RIP :( It was quite a harsh 3/4 year afterwards - I used an old, ooold Dell one - I'm terrible at specifics, but I don't think it could run anything considerably advanced than Warcraft 3 / Black and White / Morrowind :D But at least that was a time when I was forced to play older games - for example finally played Fallout 1 and 2. Since then, I'm really, really wary about drinks near my computer :|

Actually that made me think of something. Logitech makes spill proof keyboards that are dishwasher safe like this one. Probably a decent solution.
