Funny puzzle, thank you for it. Q2 & Q3 weren't too hard, thanks to Wikipedia and Google Image. Q4 made me to think on first try at Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, but these novel machines lacks of a name. My second attempt was a real and prolific novel writer, Asimov for example. Finally I spotted Roald Dahl among the Google search results. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a popular novel even outside English speakers world thank to some adaptations so I was pretty sure I got it. I didn't know him, but I liked the movie with Gene Wilder, and this novel, The Great Automatic Grammatizator, looks interesting. ;)
Just kidding. But I ended up searching for some instruments used in abortion and stuff cuz I had no clue what those things on the pictures are and I saw some really creepy images on google. :P
Thankfully I knew mostly what the medical instruments were before searching so I could at least use more specific search terms and avoid some of the more unpleasant images :P
Very easy google keyword search for me at least. If you type in basically those two phrases you get the short story with a little clicking :). Normally I'm not this fast with a harder puzzle that's (so far) exclusive.
All the instruments I had to look at.. slightly disturbing. Not sure if I sleep well tonight xD
Not sure if google is that friendly. The best search I had for #4 had The Great Automatic Grammatizator! as third option. First one was a movie and second one -- a novel that was a finalist in the Lambda Literary Awards Best Gay Romance category.
