I don't believe it's a steam code. You'll have to download Fences from the software company's website, then activate it in the application with the key. I assume.

Do you happen to know if activating from the website also gives the steam code, otherwise I would not want to use the code if it doesn´t give the key as it would be a problem for me when the win doesn´t appear in my steam library.

so you don't want the software if you can't put it in your steam library? Because I am pretty sure it's not compatible with steam. You need to download the application, probably a free trial version, from the Fences website, install it, run it, then activate it in it's settings that I'm sure the Fences application will tell you when first installing it or running it.

It's not that I don't want the software when not on steam, it's that by site's rules wins need to be activated on steam and it wouldn't be possible to confirm if I activated the win or not. That's why I don't want to use the code, although I would receive the gift but if it doesn't appear in my steam library then I would still need to mark it as not received by the site's rules.

Ah, I see your point. Well I'm not sure why steamgifts.com would allow me to make this giveaway if they wouldn't see this coming, right? The problem you're facing is a problem any winner would face if I give them a key. I'm not sure how to solve this issue otherwise. I would say go ahead and use it otherwise it'll be someone else facing the same problem.
