Celebrating my 3000th game, four years on SteamGifts, and my journey to Level 7!
I remember when the original came out, and had good reviews, but continued to be overshadowed by the likes of Doom... and then Quake hit the scene and changed everything.

I played the original one and was fun but I preferred Doom or Dark Forces (the best was System Shock, yes, I know, not a true fps...)

I unfortunately missed out on System Shock back then and wasn't sure I could handle how old it is anymore (most games it's not a bother, but older FPSes are sometimes a little janky) -- so I watched a very very very long Let's Play of it instead. :) And I'll definitely be playing System Shock 2 myself now.

I think the first SS is really too old to play now but System Shock 2 has a few mods and texture upgrades. Gameplay was awesome, remember to save your ammos ;)
