This came with the Square Enix holiday bundle and doesn't seem like a title I would enjoy. Still debating if The Legacy of Kain : Soul Reaver 1/2 would be something I like or give it away. I like vampire stories but reading some reviews the game-play itself starts getting boring after a while. Let me know what you think if you played those back in the day. I'm very happy with Hitman and cannot wait to play FFXIII!

Soul Reaver made history in the video game world, personally I'd recommend giving them a try (they didn't age well, as with most games of their kind, but still).

the first soul reaver was one of the few games I really loved
if you like action adventure games (and you can pass over the now old graphic), you should definitely play them ;)

I only played Legacy of Kain: Defiance. I find the dialogue, the voice acting, and the story all top notch. If that's something you're into, you might like the Soul Reavers (I assume they're comparable). I would suggest reading a short summary of the first Legacy of Kain, see whether you like the setting, and go from there.
The fighting itself, yeah, I can see that it would be called repetitive.
