When I do gift GAs I add them still just because that is what I am more comfortable with. It's up to the creator :)

Indeed. Personally I prefer to give the gift via Steam too, largely because then there are no chances of regifting or reselling. The winner either declines the gift, or accepts it immediately into his or her library.
