Brute-forcing is never fun ;_;

Also, Zelg, you've missed some stuff like "hidden" file information such as jpg EXIF and MP3 tags, both of which are fairly common. Other stuff like imgur 7 character codes don't seem to used as often nowadays (was far more common when they were only 5 characters long), similarly with bit.ly, pastebin and youtube URL character codes.

Another old trick is to remove the imgur file extension to get a hidden code on the image description.

Forced brute-forcing is not fun, self-induced is fun :)

crackerbear - i'm totally aware of EXIF and tags, yet I've never yet seen them used in SG puzzles - If you have some examples I'll gladly look at them :> mentioning something that is not used yet is a bad idea imho :>

and imgur codes are still used - for example the picture I gave with hidden code on it - the code was actually imgur code :> but like I mentioned - if someone uses code for something else than SG/ITH it's not standard and he usually hints it in a puzzle, or finding what the code is for is part of a puzzle :>

You've never seen EXIF and mp3 tags used in puzzles before? You need to do more puzzles :P

Uhh this may seem like giving hints away, as this is still an ongoing puzzle, but this puzzle uses EXIF data. It's the only example I have at the moment, but there are definitely more.

Here's an example of a puzzle that used mp3 tags (question 3). I'm pretty sure Mew also did a puzzle that used them, again it's a fairly common trick, at least it is to me.

It may just be one of those things that fewer people are using because it's relatively simple to "solve".

Edit: I see you've updated your main post, so this post is kinda pointless :)
