You say not to thank you? Well, I'll tell you what. Here's a story I'd like to tell.

The story begins like this. A man wandered from place to place, trying to figure out where he belongs and what he should do with himself. He didn't have a name, you see, or at least he never actually gave one out. He had many enemies, mostly verbal, some physical, who tailed after him and tried to bring him down. But ever did his generosity spread, even to those who hated him for it. Like a shockwave heard around the world, the unknown man was praised and given many names. Some referenced him as a god, others referenced him simply as a drifter with a warm sense of giving.

Yes, even his enemies became tepid to him. When they finally caught up to him, they asked "why do you do this and expect nothing back?" He simply turned around to face them and gave them a quaint smile, and said "I do it to teach the world a long forgotten lesson in kindness. Giving does not require one to get anything back. Not a thank you, not a parting gift. A gift is yours to keep, to cherish, to love. I do it for the people, not for my own selfish gains."

And then he wandered off, disappearing off the face of this very Earth, never to be seen or heard from again. The revolution in generosity he had hoped to spark had not come to fruition, but the seeds of goodness planted. He could rest in peace knowing then that everybody was happy in the world, and that at least someone learned to give.
