ACE Team hasn't released a bad game; this is their worst one, in my opinion. To be sure, it's still an amazing game. The problem lies in the maneuverability of the fighters; not fluid at all.
But yeah. Great game. You can play as (almost) every character therein. Soul-Stealing Powers / Pokemon Collection Syndrome (however you look at it). Combat is pretty good (except for that stiffness of movement). It's got those "roag-lykez" that the kids are all about nowadays. Interesting story. Great art.
