Odd, you've never seen that happen before. You'll report it to IT later, probably just a simple bug, right? The precinct is pretty high tech, it's unlikely something more serious is going on. It'll probably be fixed when you get back later. Out through the lobby, down the stairs and into the parking lot. In your cruiser, the navsys is waiting for you, directions to the warehouse already synced and active.

Pulling up outside of the warehouse, you park your cruiser under a street lamp out front. Spray paint across the front doors bids a dark welcome as you approach: "The night is cold and very nigh." You push gently against the door, crossing the threshold quickly, sticking close to the wall. Just like Simmons' apartment, the floor here is dust covered, the air is thick and heavy. You move through room after room, wide expanses of concrete solitude, occasionally sprinkled with abandoned and broken machinery from a bygone era.

A sheet of light swims comfortably across the floor of the next room you enter. It's leaking from a door on the far side of the room you're in. As you approach, shadows blend with the dancing light, and three distinct male voices can be heard from within. You can't make out the words, but the tone is cautious and calm. Bracing yourself for confrontation, you palm your service pistol and charge the door.

The wooden door swings violently on its hinges, slamming against the opposite wall. Splintered wood and metal shavings litter the floor, strangely dust free, like Simmons' bedroom at unit X5. The walls are littered with scraps of paper, newspaper clippings and maps and hand drawn diagrams of indistinguishable somethings. The console in front of you glows ominously among the clutter. Someone has been here recently--they appear to have left quickly--and their work is still open. A cryptic message titled "tdhbtCF" is visible among the console's many open windows. The contents are totally unintelligible, save for the names "Simmons" and "Sydney." Likewise, another window titled "fcyuiCF" contains a series of strange markings. A third window titled "klrouCF" seems to be a list of names, without any real purpose. Whatever Simmons was working on, it was clearly important, and related to these documents.
