From SG guidelines:
Entering #5: We encourage users to write comments thanking the giveaway creator for their generosity, although this is not required.
My additional take: Make sure to always read giveaway descriptions. Some giveaway creators specifically ask users to not say thanks unless they win, trying to reduce the amount of notifications they get (it can be a lot for those who create many giveaways). Also avoid using auto-entry scripts, and specifically ones that automatic insert comments. An auto-inserted "thanks" may get you blacklisted. Needless to say, writing non-generic comments is very appreciated by most giveaway creators.

But how do you tell the difference between an auto-inserted "thanks" and a hand written thanks?

by writing in the description not to use a generic thanks and they still reply with "thanks" or the "obrigado insert weird smiley i cant make"

I can't tell with 100% certainty, but my method is close enough. Example here. You see, auto-insertion is done without reading the giveaway description, and that's the key to identify auto-inserters. So far I don't think I've got false positives.

well i kinda find giveaway notifications useless, and i ALWAYS say in the description, not to say thanks, and those who say thanks are just dumb facepalm

Thank you, and I use the mouse wheel... though I've bound that to a button on the side of my mouse.

Unless you are a doctor. Their handwriting died a long time ago.

To say something or not to say... That is the question...
And then what to say...
Here is a genuine thanks...

I appreciate creators who write non-generic descriptions and especially descriptions that are educational. Thanks for the education and the giveaway. :-)

Oh, this game looks interesting! (And you can play as a girl and romance a girl. That's, like, one of the main things I wish for in games.)
