Are you a misogynist who thinks it is appropriate to play a male character and probably oppress women in all kinds of other ways? Are you going to play an allegedly stereotypical female character that Anita Sarkeesian would probably hate? Also, it's strange to me to not choose a female character when given the option, but I never have enjoyed less the games where I have to play as a man - I treat them all as reading a book. ^_^ I enjoyed, immensely, playing as Geralt... Oh, and I was never offended by how some games may portray women, only somewhat amused...

I'm not too fussy myself, although certainly if it is a 3rd person game where I'm staring at someone from behind as they run around I'll always choose Lara Croft.
They are games that probably are sexist or unenlightened - but there are so many more with strong and interesting female characters. I just think maybe it would be better if certain folks supported and encouraged the positives in the medium rather than drawing so much attention to the negatives.
