How do you feel about The Walking Dead (TV)?
I dropped it once, on season 2, then started watching again. I don't like most of the characters, but the main theme of the show strongly attracts me.
TWD somehow has recovered some strenght lately.
I'm currently watching the Fear TWD episodes right now, and liking them so far.
A bit "rushed" imo how the things get messy but overall it's a good spin-off.
Yeah, Fear TWD was a nice intermission.
What I don't like is that TWD repeats itself in the plot from time to time, and there are some needless characters. But, in general, it is one of the most exciting shows I'm currently watching.
Yes, the whole human-relationship or decision-making plots seems to keep repeating over and over again at this point.
It seems that nobody cares anymore about why is this happening or if there is a cure?
A safe place somewhere? Is it global, just in USA? I don't know, I would like to see the story progress in that aspect too.

Another zombie show I recommend is Z Nation. It has a lot more humour and silliness than TWD but still manages to be really dark and gritty sometimes.

It's season 6 right now and a seventh season has already been confirmed, actually! I don't think they have plans to stop any time soon, the creators said that they have content for many more seasons. I hope they won't drag it out too long though - I'd rather have the show end when it's great and remember it that way. I can't think of many shows that managed to keep up a high level of quality for more than 7 or 8 seasons.
They specified early on they were planning for at least ten and given how much slower they progressed the plot than the comics it wouldn't be hard to stretch it further

I love TWD. I watched the 1st season and stopped I think in the first episode of Season 2. I told myself this is "pure garbage", I hated the love story between Rick, Lori and Shane ... 2 years later, I convince myself maybe I need to watch it again and force myself to keep watching it till the last season (I think it was season 4 that time). I was really loving it and watched all of the episodes straight ahead (happened to me before that when I saw 5 seasons of 24 in one week lol).
It's really one of the best TV show right now. As for Fear the walking dead, well it's not the same. Pretty slow acting and not a nasty atmosphere like TWD. But it's a good spinoff.

Btw, I recommend you read the comics. The show follows it close enough it's not a completely different story, but you still won't be able to guess what's coming next. They're good in their own way, but I prefer the comics. It's close to 150 issues now, so the show still has a hell lot of content in its future (and my favourite villain!)
In my opinion, Fear is okay. Like the original series, it is not about the zombie apocalypse, but more about parents-children relationships =)
Oh, I don't know, I'm not really into comics =< I like some manga (haven't read it for a long time, too) because of the art, but no matter now many times I've tried - I can't read most of the western comics, no matter how good they are. I just don't like the drawing styles, thus I prefer to read books...
I've watched so many zombie movies they all kinda blur together, haven't seen the walking dead at all though. I also liked the funny return of the living dead ones, they were rather punk and cheeky (comedies obviously). :)
Walking Dead... good show but not that close to me as it could be. I can easily miss episodes for weeks - I don't really miss them. For me it's a thing that's good if you watch it, but if you have anything better to do instead of watching an episode, you don't miss much. Usually it's too calculable how episodes build up, and not enough plot twist or surprising happenings. In my book it's a strong 3+ / 5 - I'm really fine with watching it, but wouldn't miss it if I couldn't watch the next episodes, plus doesn't have the drive to re-watch previous seasons.
Well, most of the long-running shows are pretty predictable these days. What I like the most is the immersion in this post-apocalyptic world (it's like playing a survival videogame), and also some of the characters strongly inspire me in how they were acting in some harsh situations =)
Haven't watched the series yet, but earlier today, I spent quite some time reading Wikipedia entries concerning zombies, including some movie comparisons. :-D
