So what made you apply for computer science? What are your expectations? I'm about to finish my bachelor in computer science in a few weeks, hope you enjoy your study

Maths & Computers, + physics and whatnot. The course just looks great, however I'm not fully sure about it. Is it fine to ask you what your bachelor's involved? What area did you have to commit to? :D
And good job to you, what career are you looking at after you finish?

It is important that you are really committed to this stuff. Too be honest I was a bit surprised in the first semester because had expected it to be different . I think you will realize really soon if you like it or not. I think it depends on the university. My bachelor involved a lot of theoretical stuff and less of the pure programming and pratical applications. It was really heavy on (engineer's) math and logic. I had a some interesting pratical courses though. I specialized on software engineering and economics.
Well, I will apply for the Master and maybe a phd after that, not sure about the phd though. I tend to an economical career as I had some talks with people at my university and they said making a living with research and science is really really hard and not so grateful at all, except if you are very well known in the community.

Making a living with research and science is hard, yes, but highest and best paid IT jobs require PHD. I wish I stuck and made one, my lead professor was really well paid IT consultant who worked with CERN and IBM, sadly high theoretical math required was too much for me :(

When I see people on Steamgifts talking about PhD's like they're nothing, it just makes me so happy to be able to chat and get to know people with a large amount of experience and information, it is truly such a great community. Praise cg! :D

I'm not truly sure what I intend to specialize on throughout the course, I haven't fully looked into all the possibilities but software engineering and economics sounds quite good as a whole, as it gives you more possibilities when looking for a job I suppose. And yeah, unless you're well-known which you won't be when you graduate, making a decent living out of research isn't really viable. ^^
