My favorite plane is probably the a10 thunderbolt...this one was torn to shit in Iraq and still flew back to base with only one engine and a severely damaged wing

The Tupolev Tu-144 (NATO name: "Charger") is a retired jet airliner, which was the world's first commercial supersonic transport aircraft (SST).
It wasn't that commercially effective. Also, those photos are of Russian version of supersonic passenger jet airliner. And it became out of usage long before the Anglo-French version Concorde.
I love this kind of painting on war planes. It feels like it gave this machine a soul (yes I'm that kind of person that belive some machines have souls).

Oh yeah, I read about it. I even saw a picture with half serious description about how some engineer decided to attach plane to gun.
If I remember correctly US Air Forces was going to stop using them, but at last moment they decided to keep them due to their reliability.
