at this point they look a lot like each other because Squad is in pre alpha.
but Insurgency is all about CQB (close quarter battles ) in small maps,mean while the main focus of Squad is Large scaled battles and fire fights that includes both infantry and vehicular warfare.
there's gonna be more factions (like russia,china,germany,some kind of middle eastern army,etc ) and both light and heavy vehicles.
give it a year and you'll see a totally different game :D
Ah I see they were involved with a BF2 mod? Hopefully this team will keep motivated to complete this game.
Never played a battlefield game before but the animations look pretty smooth. Have you played their mod before? I'd imagine they'll be making it similar.
Kind of reminds me of how DayZ started out as a mod for Arma2. Squad is the next DayZ?
Yes these guys are the original creators of Project Reality BF2 mod....i've been playing it for almost 3 years now and it still has an active community :D (that's why i'm so pumped up about Squad :D )
it's like a spiritual successor to Project Reality,there was a project named PR2 and it was going to be a F2P game but the development didn't go well.....(there was another team behind it,not the current dev team of Squad )
i really believe in the dev team because i've seen and played their previous game and it's just so amazing,like the amount of content they added to Battlefield 2 with that old Engine is just crazy.
and teamwork is actually the core of PR,even if you join a random serer you see everyone's working together(100 player servers,2 teams of 50,maximum of 9 squads and a commander ) almost every one has a mic and everyone's constantly communicating with each other.it's like the only game i've seen with that much teamwork involved in it......
yep it's pretty much like DayZ,with the difference that Bohemia is supporting the developer of DayZ but with Squad it's just the Devs and the community,that's why i'm trying to get more people to vote for it,because a supporting community is all Squad needs.

the guys behind Insurgency also started with crating mods and now they have their own successful game on steam :D
The way you describe this game sounds too good to be true. How do the regular players treat unskilled new players? Are they usually more friendly and helpful?
i know right :D it's probably the best gaming community i've seen and that's the only reason it still has active players and clans.
i mean let's be real,PR is a mod for Battlefield 2 (released 2004-2005 ),the visuals are outdated,there are so many limitations,there are bugs,etc,etc but it's unique,there isn't anything else like it out there,i've played Arma,newer Battlefields,red Orchestra,insurgency but non of these games are near as good as PR in terms of team work and being balanced...
there is a Manuel for the game that explains pretty much every thing and most people are really nice and help each other out (we even had special training sessions for new comers :D ) but there are also those who think they're Gods in the game and wouldn't help new comers...
