Right now, I'm plowing through the first half of A Dance with Dragons. :-) For the second time.
Thanks!

The books are much better than the show, IMO. First 3 books are some of the best Fantasy novels I've read, the last two were good but not as good as the first three to me.

Somehow, I manage to like all of the books the same. Well, maybe the Storm of Swords a bit more, but that has to do with the fact it's the longest one. :-]
And considering the TV show has to work with a limited budget, time constraints, and also with audience that may not know (or remember) the books, I think HBO is doing the best anyone could moving this to screen. (With a TV series, you have all kinds of nasty problems like “we cannot reintroduce a long lost minor character, because in a book, people would just flip back a few pages or read a brief flashback, but a reintroduction or, god forbid, a flashback onscreen would totally destroy the pacing”.) All in all, I'm happy both the books and the TV series exist. :-)
