Welcome to the Sixth week of the 52 weeks of Christmas!!!
This week you guys are getting a twofer. The winner of this giveaway will also receive Orcs Must Die! Game of the Year.(unless you already own it)
What is the 52 weeks of Christmas you might ask? Well it is an idea I had where I will be gifting a new game every week for 52 weeks(thats a whole year!!!) and hopefully making someone's week feel like Christmas in the process. I hope you will have as much fun as I do with this.
New Week, New Question: How does games reviews impact your decision to buy a game? Did you change your way of viewing reviews after the "scandal" that happened two weeks ago? If so how did it change your views.
My response: Reviews has never been a big deciding factor in my game purchases habit. I mainly use them to make sure that a game is not completely broken, which sometimes reviews totally fail to mention, or if the game is worth buying full price. I feel that reviewer often miss the point of playing games and that they tend to be more lenient with some establish franchise while being harder on some other games. For example one of my most enjoyed game of 2012 was poorly reviewed (Binary Domain). The game had flaws but the overall experience was enjoyable but from reading all the reviews you would have though that you should not touch this game at all. If you do agree or do not agree with my point of view please leave a message, I read all of them even if I do not respond to most. :)
You can join my Steam group where you will be alerted of all my giveaways, participate from time to time in choosing my next giveaway and even chose which game related question to ask. A discussion thread will also be open with this question and the old one if you want to discuss it with me or others :) http://steamcommunity.com/groups/weeksofchristmas#
God bless.

This^ I'm sorry but I also don't know what you mean but now I'm curious.
When I'm thinking about buying game I watch trailers and gameplays. I sometimes read review, but rarely.
And of course thank You for this awsome giveaway:)

I mostly just use gameplay videos to decide if I want a game.

Yeah, this.
Sometimes I'm watching video reviews but not often (just because reviews are way too subjective[yeah I know that that's the point of reviews :D]). Gameplays FTW

I use these, too. But also I love that Steam has demos! Saved myself from trading for a game or two!

I read and watch reviews of the games I don't know much about, because I'm curious and if they are positive or mention something that catches my attention I usually became more interested those games. But when I'm already interested in a game I try not to read reviews to avoid spoilers. If I want to play a game and it has bad reviews I buy it anyway.

I considerer reviews, if a game has very high scores and I haven't heard much about it I do some research to see if it looks like a game I would enjoy. And if a game that looks interesting has some really bad reviews (like below 50/100) I probably won't buy it unless it's recommended to me by a friend or has a really good sale. I tend to like reviews from Rock, Paper, Shotgun, I feel like they are better to get the feeling of the game and easier to tell if the game reviewed is one that I'll enjoy. Bottom line, I don't buy games just because they have a metascore of 95/100 but a score of 40/100 might put me off.

Thank you!

Thanks! I don't really care for reviews. I might just check that the game isn't very bad.

Thanks :) And not really into the whole reviews thing, if someone like Totalbiscuit (other commentators are available) does a video on a game I want to get then I will watch it and see what its like, but it wont really -decide- for me, although that said, if they do a video of a game I had no idea existed and it looks amazing then yah, it will probably get me to buy it :P
-Edit- as a side note, if we have Orcs Must Die should we not enter? or will you just hold it to raffle it off later?
