If you have the time and space to really do a lot with it, why not? But you really need to be able to let it run around a lot and be mobile. And get huge amounts of food ;)

My family always had dogs when I grew up but I'm not very familiar with this particular breed so I don't have much to contribute to this discussion.
I personly would (normally) rather go for a mixed-breed mainly because they tend to be healthier than purebloods.

I don't know if I could handle a dog as big as a bear.

Personally I am always wary around big Dogs. They often don`t know how strong they are
or how dangerous their claws can be for wimpy Human Skin. If you want something
fluffy that loves to give you a workout quite often, why not try a Papillon? They are absolutely
adorable. Height is up to 30 cm or so, quite easily manageable despite their limitless Energy.
