you are a little late - this news was discussed several years ago. I even wrote to Ubisoft support for clarification. with a list of possible reasons why I won't be able to log in to my account within six months: I'll go to the hospital and so on, ubisoft sincerely worried about my condition and hoped that no matter what, I would be able to visit my account. but also reassure me that the deletion should not happen automatically and someone at ubisoft will still monitor it.

I call BS, a Belgian friend just checked his account today after his last login was on 16-05-2019. It's still there without anything missing. Same with a Dutch friend who logged in slightly over 2 years ago (she couldn't give me an exact date).
So they're deleting in active accounts but not at only 6 months of inactivity.

Well their BS motivated me to install their client just to make sure my games are still there, and they are luckily, because I hadn't bothered to log into my account in about a year. This policy is awful, there's many reasons why someone could stop using an account for a while, 6 months isn't even that long, I guess from now on the only safe place to get Ubisoft games is gonna be GOG since most of the ones on Steam still require Uplay/whatever the hell is called now.

I am not a lawyer but I find it hard to believe these ToS are legally binding especially in Europe. You buy a game, you don't rent it.
Also if you buy a key from a reseller like humble. Do their ToS also say the license is temporary? Or will they refund every game if an account gets deleted? What if you bought the game on steam which runs the ubisoft launcher?
No, I really don't think this can possibly be legally binding. But to avoid trouble I will never buy there again.
Edit:// I googled Dutch law. And indeed. It says: The legal guarantee means that you are always entitled to a good product. If a product is defective, you are entitled to a free repair, a new product or a refund of your money. There is no legal warranty period in the Netherlands. This is because one product lasts longer than the other.
A license lasts forever as it doesn't go bad or defective because of usage. Therefor you are always entitled of a new product or a refund. So this ToS is not legally binding in The Netherlands and most likely in a lot of different countries either.

yeah there were news, but it was almost 2 years ago, were the wording same? as everybody know, those documents tend to change over time
but for this part I believe they wont touch those accounts

wakfu was one of my favorite games for years and had like 300+ hours in it.
still playing it when it moved to steam

Some say this is just a new version of the previously ongoing issue, while others say Ubisoft has gone further to delete inactive accounts. I personally think Ubi did start to wipe out inactive accounts, because news magazines state "Ubisoft accounts can be suspended and can be permanently deleted". As long as that's not a fake news, they wouldn't withdraw the publicized materials. Besides, the captured image of the warning for the suspension and the subsequent deletion of the account was shown on the Internet. If it's not a fake one, this should be another evidence.
I haven't spend any money since they announced they would withdraw the paid DLCs, if Ubisoft sticks to this kind of decision, there's no reason I should give them any money.

Entirely reasonable for a multi billion dollar corporation to need to delete a few 0s and 1s from their servers to make up space for other things. Don't you guys ever delete stuff from your drives? You're just haters attacking poor Ubi-chan.

I know this is sarcasm but you are also not wrong. I will not defend this, however they do email you before they will do it. Who makes an account with games on it and never checks the email? Look I wish things were different, and we had games we owned and didn't have DRM or launchers. Sadly we don't live in that world, so you have to accept some things. This is one of those, people just want to get angry over something they can't change.
Speak with your wallets! Do not buy Ubi games, do not buy EA, do not buy Acti-shit soon to be M$ fuckfest... simple.

Don't quote me on this, but pretty sure they're only doing this with accounts with no games/only free-to-play games on them, and did this for many years now, not sure why this blew up. I've never heard about anyone actually losing their games.
