Don't think the guidelines mention anything about this being a red flag. Unless twitch channels are a red flag automatically.

User Projects

Be considerate to not repeatedly bump your content if the community is not engaging with your post.I would assume a twitch channel to be on the same situation as a youtube channel.
Making a discussion to link public giveaways feels bad, i get it. But the entire idea is to advertise himself in this community. Making public giveaways and relying on the description only or making private giveaways and rely on the discussion boards only, either way is bad since you aren't getting the full outcome on the advertisement.

I am sorry I am not familiar with all the rules, I think after week one, I will start making the giveaways more selective and higher level. I was just trying to do something nice for the community.

Hey, i'm not against what you are doing here. I do understand his frustration, but in the end, it makes no sense to forsake something just to appeal a select few. That is how i view it. Then again, the guidelines can be interpreted in many ways, it's not perfect nor 100% clear, so it's confusing honestly. They are your GAs, you set them up how you want to.
I see no harm in this, if everyone started doing the samething, then i guess it would be annoying. Yet, you are making an event of sorts, by doing the 1 good giveaway per day.

He seems like such a dick despite being so generous and it makes him memorable for me on this site. A long time ago I had a thread with nearly 300 comments and out of all the users I replied to, he's one of the ones that sticks out. He's got me blacklisted still since that time and yet I still have him whitelisted... People are strange. :D

How is he being blunt when he literally said OP is a new guy to making discussions unlike Lugum. If Lugum didn't take that lightly, that is his problem, not yours or mine. You are just adding fuel to the fire, apparently no logical reason other than to create beef i assume. You should perhaps learn to not get hung up on the past, even more so with people you don't know IRL. Just move on.

Its not about what i take, it's about the rules, advertizing,which i believe always followed under those guidelines. but guessing half of the staff is already gone again by now.
People used to hang others over it, in the past if they posted a new thread pointing to public giveaways, and i guess now since it's all these cool games given away it's "okay".
And that guy loves to take snide remarks to a lot of people here, and so he did again with me as is his style, if someone feels like he gotten the same "treatment" then it's in his right too to just mention that.

The guidelines are there but they are far from being crystal clear, it can go either way really. You can find information that might help justify something that is done, but then you can find information that can be used against it, that is how i view the guidelines in most cases. If it's something serious, then i guess people should jump in and correct the situation, if it isn't that serious, perhaps ignore it?
If people did that (about "hanging others over it"), and not the moderation team. Then i guess the answer is right there... Like i stated in another comment, it more or less sucks that you get public giveaways brought up in a discussion, i get that and more or less feel like that, but it would also suck for the person creating these GAs to limit themselves to one or the other option, when he could go with both. This is no different than making public GAs with level requirement and no level requirement and posting it here. This is the difference between me and you, i attempt to see both sides of the problem and see the best approach. I do not outright tell someone they are doing something wrong because i feel like that at the moment, i do that when the situation is clearly wrong, which is not the case.
In the end, your beef with doctor is yours alone in this topic, anyone that jumps in and throws their 50 cents to either side to tip the scale towards one side is simply adding fuel to the fire for no good reason. Which leads me to believe that this could be considered a personal attack to some extent on top of derailing the topic, since one user is taking advantage of the moment to try and do something on another user just because they've had their fair share of moments in the past.
Like i said, there is the option to ignore things. Or take things privately.

I jump short in with my opinion about the thread.
The thread is clear advertising for the twitch channel, with GA's that are public and don't need to be added in the thread.
That get made to push the thread and the follower count. Nothing else. Yes, that is a assuming, based on the experience with a lot of people that advertise something on sg. Sadly the minority do it with "good intentions" and reading the rules.
And it don't have something to do with "Play together", from my point of view.
The reason why some people, me included, react so "strong" on advertising is, because it feels as nowadays nearly each one advertise something in a way that is, mostly/nearly always, over the allowed limit because the control of such stuff is low.
Not much staff members around.
