Some of the games on there are more than half the price... of a half the price sale. Just wondering if anything could happen to my account if I bought a cd-key from there? >-<

Posting this just 4 the lulz - neither sites are very safe but likely worth the risk. Have only sold some gifts on G2A myself - while buying, haven't bought a thing from neither - funny enough there isn't almost any game that is not cheaper on sgifts/trades or outpost/dispenser.

  • G2A has lower fees and more favorable selling/payout conditions than Kinguin
  • buying prices likely are cheaper on G2A since its a bigger site - more (buyers/sellers)
  • G2A does puts Warnings on their RU/CIS Games "Country ..." while Kinguin shows you a tutorial for VPN Activation lol
  • both sites consist mostly of costumer <> costumer sales, but Kinguin sure as hell looks seems legit
  • Kinguin looks like a bare bone website ready to burn and be replaced in 3 2 1 ...

... looking at this now:

G2A > Kinguin

If you activate a region-restricted game using a VPN, does it stay activated? Somehow I hadn't figured they only checked your country at the activation phase, and/or only checked your IP.

Depends on the game - but as time goes by steam seems to enforce/widen their "fake or real" Region-Restricted Warnings.
Esp. new AAA titles won't allow activation in not specified countries + and probably playing them as well (without VPN).
Using VPN however, is becoming less and less of a burden (one could easily create his own VPN - amazon cloud services ...)

Pretty sure the game stays activated if you managed with a VPN - and those warnings about being banned, likely just scare-tactics,
which in worst-case would result in removal of the game - and even of those cases are yet to be heard
(google steam vpn ban - only crap; not results like "wee wee i got banned/ my game removed for vpn activation - but i'm half indian").

^ If at all, these methods (removing VPN activated games; and in last instance banning the user)
might be employed FOR REAL in the future ...

Mate, please stop bumping 2-8 years old topics, you can't (and didn't) add anything of value to them. The SteamDB topic it's also outdated, Valve since then updated their system to handle huge libraries almost instantly.

(It's also against the rules to necro threads without a very good reason)

This is an 8 year old topic, which was recently needlessly bumped by one user and then later by another who may not have realized how old the topic actually was.
Closing this to prevent further confusion and unnecessary bumping.
