I would like to find negatives sides(weakness) in recommendation system in Steam.
Also, one moment. Do you see shitty games in recommendation? I often see bad games in recommendations from my friends.

What do you expect from the system? What kind of games would you like to see there? Maybe that fit your current mood or ones you would like to play in future?

Thank you for answers. Giveaway

I have never seen it recommend me anything I would actually like, so I just forgot it existed at all. And everything I like is already on my wishlist anyways so I got no use for it at all.

Which recommendations?

If you mean discovery queue, that one's almost entirely useless, mostly just giving me popular games that I already know about and don't care about.

If you mean "More like this" on individual game pages, that one is quite useful.

If you mean the "Featured & Recommended" thing on the main store page, that one is almost entirely made up of popular games I don't care about and games that have already been wishlisted, so not useful.

If you mean "Trending Among Friends", that's the most useless of all.

If you mean "Curator Recommendations", that one is hit and miss on games I'm interested in, but almost always the ones I'm interested in are already wishlisted, so not useful.

I had one recommendation that was particularly memorable not because it was bad or wrong, just bizarre.

It said that since I had played Cosmic Osmo and the Worlds Beyond the Mackerel, which is a children's game by the developers behind Myst, I might like Grand Theft Auto V. The only possible connection that I can think of is that both involve exploring open worlds, but as they're otherwise so very different I can't see how that could have happened.

Recommendation \ Explore is annoying as hell. it gives you options to filter out games and their associated tags so you don't end up seeing them in your recommendation \ explore. but what do i see? I WANNA FILTER ALL VR GAMES AND ALL I GET ARE VR GAMES GOD DAMN IT!?!

so yeah. useless system. that don't work for spit.
like other fellow said. its nice to use when they give free cards during those sales.

I wish they'd let you start off by selecting X amount of games to use as a basis for future recommendations, and then use future purchases and/or recent significant periods of playtime to tune it.

It doesn't mesh well with the lazy tagging system.
