Yeah, I figured it's just an old tradition that isn't really followed anymore.

Try the best Galette (typical french food from the Bretagne) in Paris from "Au P'tit Grec" (62 Rue Mouffetard, 5e Arr., closest metro station is Place Monge), there are plenty of other options for eating in that road as well, close to some universities. If you're into art and the Louvre is just too big for you, try Musée Rodin (79 Rue de Varenn, 7e Arr., closest metro station is Varenne) and see for example The Thinker there. For the best view on the Eiffel tower check it out from Trocadero. Would also recommend Parc de la Villette and the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie over there (metro station e.g. Porte de la Villette) if you have good weather at the moment.
Enjoy your time in Paris, it's a really cool place to visit (have been there about 6 times thus far I think...)

Go to the airport, and wait for a guy asking you to share the taxi. By this way you will visit some "cool" places in Paris.
Don't believe me? Watch that movie.

The Jardin des Plantes (there is a National Museum History, all information here), Montmartre, the Bateau-mouche. And of course, as said above (the Louvre, Versailles palace, Eiffel Tower, Disney).

You're gonna waste your time waiting for the Louvre. Just saying out of experience.

you can just walk in in the entrence showing your student card

If the person behind the entrence is kinda naive,(s)he'll let you in without any problem!

worked for me... (I didn't watch that stupid Mona Lise though)
