Please keep in mind that the functioning of this site is dependent upon its users giving correct input. Therefore, our users are expected to be honest and forthright in the input they provide.

  • If you create a giveaway, you are promising to deliver what you select in the creation process. If the game or DLC you desire to give away is not listed in the drop-down menu, there is a reason for it. Make sure the giveaway matches what you intend to give away.
  • If you enter a giveaway, you are declaring that you do not already own (at least in part) what is being given away. Should you somehow manage to win something you already own, you are required to give up your position as winner and completely forfeit your win to the creator of the giveaway. Make sure you do not already own what you are attempting to win.
  • Feedback is included with each giveaway in order to facilitate disbursement of the game promised. A Grace Period of seven days is given for the winner to claim the win and the creator to deliver it. If the Grace Period expires without proper delivery, the winner has the right to mark the gift "not received," and the creator has the right to ask for a re-roll. Make sure any feedback you give is reflective of the giveaway's current status.
  • Access to the "Enter" button of a giveaway is through the consent of its creator. Should that access be restricted by a gate (e.g. invite only), only entrants which fulfill the conditions of the gate at the time of the giveaway's expiration are eligible for entry. (e.g. You cannot win a Group giveaway if you are not a member of its Steam group when the giveaway ends.) Once access to the "Enter" button has been granted, no further qualification is needed for entry. The ability to by-pass or circumvent a giveaway's gate does not qualify an entrant.
  • Marking a giveaway "received" means your win has been successfully added to your Steam library. If your Steam library does not display your won game after you redeem it, do not mark your win as "received." There are no substitutions accepted in lieu of the promised game/DLC, and you will be held accountable for any giveaway you mark "received." Should one of your wins be removed from your Steam library, contact SG Support immediately.

Failure to provide accurate feedback when required to do so by the site may result in restrictions and/or penalties being applied to those involved. Please do your best to cooperate with each other so as to avoid difficult and/or unpleasant situations.

Abridged version:

  1. Make good on your giveaways and quit making lame ass excuses.
  2. Don't enter giveaways just to +1 your DLC collection and don't enter for crap you already own. That's a dick move.
  3. a. Send the winner his game before a week passes or suck it up and take a Not Received.
    b. Get off your ass before a week passes and collect your shit or someone else will.
  4. Don't enter giveaways you can only access by cheating. Cheating is for losers. Don't be a loser.
  5. Received means the game's in your library. If it's not, a swift kick in the gonads will follow. We're watching you. Yes, you.

I admit getting uneasy doing a GA. I'm reading about region restricted bundle keys being not explicitly marked as such. Imagine the winner is (unfortunately) from an excluded region.
Do I have to research region restrictions on my own and how? How would I get a key for the region of the winner?

With keys from trustworthy sources like Humble of Fanatical the SG community usually does a great job investigating and reporting region restrictions so your first place to go is the bundle thread here on SG. Since you're from Germany most keys shouldn't have region restrictions anyway. We in the EU usually get the good kind of keys that can be redeemed worldwide but there are occasionally some exceptions.

Another way to investigate is when you try to create a giftlink on Humble it shows you the region restrictions. You don't have to actually follow through creating a gift-link. You probably even shouldn't because using gift-links seems to be a great way to get your account flagged as a commercial trader and they'll deny support on any issues you might have in the future or even disable your account.

You shouldn't entirely trust that region restriction information you get from Humbe.
As far as I know they're usually not wrong (can be activated in all countries listed) but very often they claim the keys are more restrictive than they actually are (can be activated in many countries not listed by Humble). The information here on SteamGifts is usually much more reliable than what you get from Humble.

Hope that was somewhat helpful 😉 If I forgot something hopefully somebody else with more in detail knowleadge will help fill in the gaps.

Edit: Oh yeah, one last thing. Particularly some asian publishers like to issue keys that activate worldwide except a single asian country (often Japan). In that case I've heard repeatedly Support will reroll even without the necessity of the winner agreeing to do so because the creator acted to the best of their knowledge.

Use this below link especially if you have bought a bundle and look up the relevant SG page for that bundle. I use it a lot when making giveaways from buying humble bundles and helps me avoid such issues.
