Silent Stalker.
I just listen in on voice chats and never talk.
Also, occasionally accidental catfish, because some people assume girl character = girl.

doesnt have to be in game. can be on social networks or even here on SG.
I'm just interested how people express themselves online

You are too wise. Multiplayer games have extremely toxic communities!
Comment has been collapsed.
It's totally unhealthy to play games that make you angry. That's why I avoid playing competitive in cs:go. That's why I avoid playing Football Manager (that's actually because my players can't even do a correct pass). But anyway, multiplayer games are the scourge of gaming, because of their shitty toxic community.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's very dependent on the game. Team games with long matches and large communities (DOTA 2, CS:GO) tend to foster really toxic communities, while games with smaller communities where you're not reliant on someone else on your team also doing their job (or where you can't blame someone else on your team for your own mistakes) tend to have far friendlier communities.

I'm not mean. Like what answer did you expect in a question like that? XD
Comment has been collapsed.
I expected a non asshole reply to my comment that has nothing wrong with it. Like, all I said is, aren't you overreacting, dramatising, being butthurt too much, taking too much offense from your experiences ? I did nothing to you, I expected a normal comment or ignore, not an asshole worthy reply, geez.
Comment has been collapsed.
If you didn't expect an asshole reply, then don't do an asshole question. You mocked me by suggesting that I hate humanity too. But while I answered in a funny tone, you reacted like you got offended. If you don't want to get offended, then don't offend others too. Your comment was wrong. Just because you (probably) found it funny, it doesn't mean it is. Same goes for my comments too.

I was once a polemicist. Age has moderated that tendency. I try to be very courteous.

Hehe, probably because it originates from a greek word. :P
Comment has been collapsed.
It means one who engages in energetic debate or disputation (i.e. one who engages in polemics).
Comment has been collapsed.
That really depends on who I'm talking to. :) I'm an academic by training, and in a field where disputation is part of the method. I love a good debate with reasonable people. Less so with some other sorts of people.
But also, importantly, people don't always enjoy being debated with.
Comment has been collapsed.
A-exactly. Polemic means something like "militant" - here it means someone who is trying to start an argument.
Comment has been collapsed.
To clarify, when I say "militant", I mean someone aggressive, combative, someone that is ready to start a fight, that kind of thing.

Heh, you'd be surprised how much Greek and Latin are rooted within most Europe-related languages. Most likely in some others as well, since both had extensive empires in the Middle East and North Africa, and both were lingua franca for centuries.
Comment has been collapsed.
i know theyre the basis of most european languages... now that i think about it, in french there's a word polémique which means argument. (im not french... kiwi here living in france :P)

online im a lone wolf, SP only, no steamfriends i chat with, no RL friends that are into gaming. only personalized profile a bit to have something nicer to look at than default profile

i only play a few hours per week to relax, so it fits for me. i used to play more and online when i was younger but then life became serious :D

im quite busy with work and being a father. usually when i have free time i rather meet friends or do sports, so when i play an hour or two in the evening i dont feel like playing fastpaced online stuff
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh wow, had no idea your life is do jam packed, my bad, now it sounds reasonable, although nothing realy prevents you from playing both single and multiplayer stuff, both are easily accessible if you have them, but anyway, not being able to play as much, getting older, it makes you lose your gaming edge and your life already is quite serious, so my bad, I understand, few hours is slot when you got so much else to do and nyeah, meeting real life does sound peachy\er.

Yet another kid whining about everyrhing. Haven't played this game in 2 years and now I remember why. Instead of flaming you could, you know, shoot somebody. Also I dont think there is an option to report called "OMG noob player", but there is for flaming, so you know - reported :)

How is that a bad idea? And staying alone by your lonesome self is better? Missing out on potential game buddies and fun social interactions involving around games? You do have to take the first steps and you are more prepared than you think you are you don't need much to be prepared its not like you're going to perform in a talent show or job audition lol. You have to put alot of effort in order to establish connection, introductions, encounters , chances for socilising, etc. Unless you don't want that, you realy have to make the first move my man, anywhere would do, preferably on places related to things you like, many people to meet, talk and play with, for example, thanks to a certain franchise, I was able to make alot of friends and I would comment on their friends to make more friends. Just be active many even a little.

People are better off investing time into someone that brings some kind of value to the interaction. Those foolish enough to try talking to me soon realise their mistake and leave. One cannot establish a connection that is not there. I tend to find very little enjoyment in socialising. I rarely have anything to say to people unless they start the communication. Even if I did have something to say, how could I be so intrusive as to probe into someone else's business? How could I have so little respect for another person's time that I expect them to spend any of it on me?

I don't know what that means, but I like it.

I use a background from Gunpoint, since I enjoyed that game and its music a lot. I got that background completing the badge, and since I like saxophones (and Hearthstone, for those who watch Trolden's videos), I thought I could use it. That's it.

I should have been more clear. I was IN the game, as in playing it. I just waited longer between accepting missions (thus idling) cause the music was good. I wasn't letting the game work in the background while I did other things. It just took me 2-3 min to accept missions instead of 10-20 seconds.

Oh, ok. But I meant that I was downloading the soundtrack :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh my bad, I thought you were telling me that there was a better way to enjoy the music than sitting in main menu as in "downloading soundtrack". I'm sorry hehe :P I can't function with this much lack of sleep, this is my 2nd misunderstanding today :D
Enjoy your beautiful music :)

Aaaaah I see, so pretty much the same thing, glad to hear Gunpoint has good music if I ever get to play it. Your comment just reminded me of other YouTube comments where people saying they just sit in menu's and listen to music. Ever played Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed? The music in between races when you're in your garage checking your cars before the next race is wonderful = http://youtu.be/m4KC_QdLOY0
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't play race games but during my early childhood I played some Need for Speed. The one I played could be Porsche Unleashed because I think I remember the music you linked. It's a pretty good one :)
This is Gunpoint's menu music. I'm slowly swaying my head left and right as of this moment when listening to it :D

Why don't you play them? Their good genre of games. Played some Need for Speed early on? So did I, the first one barely, alot of Hot Pursuit that I safely didn't finish but the music and police radio chatter was phenomenal, played III, had police roleplays with my cousin when we would play as cops and wait for racers, played Most Wanted and Carbon but didn't finish them or any realy, awesome games still, not sure why you didn't play more but alright. It could be the one? Pretty good? Nah, it's heart seemingly amazing ^=^ you REALY don't hear music like this no more...people want EA to make Need for Speed Porsche games again but they won't.... Another main menu music I mentioned was A from Race Driver Grid, also quite lovely http://youtu.be/VhNRweaZEkY you can definitely relax with this one.
And ooooh my, that is a most sweet sounding Gunpoint soundtrack but 1:44 isn't enough :( ...

Stopped enjoying them as you grew up? That doesn't make sense... No idea how would age ruin your joy for racing....come? Love them? Not realy, I just like them, I mostly just like the illegal, destructive, street racing kind, although as I said Grid as great, the sequel, not so much.
Mmhm, it and many more need 20 hours for sure.

It changes for me. I'm usually Cheerful Unicorn/Moody Loner/Joker. Depends on my mood. I have sometimes been a Catfish as well cough meaning that I pretend to be female. And I am quite often the judge, if I see wrongdoings anywhere. I defend strangers if I see idiotic behavior.

I'm a nerd. When you program, go to school with a goal of doctorate's, and play around with math for fun, you sometimes put off that vibe :)

I enjoyed the last poll about whether u spend money on your profile... and especially enjoyed browsing each of your profiles to see how u customised them. so i thought... why did u guys make your profiles as such? I'm guessing it's cuz of you were inspired by something or someone ...
