Good approach and great choice of tune. And for those days when the list of chores is especially long there's always Frog's Theme hehe.

Chrono Trigger playthroughs brought my favorite gaming memories. The first one was the coziest of course, with me and my buddy skipping school, sitting by a CRT TV for many hours with an English dictionary in hand, desperately trying to understand what exactly is going on in the story lol, and without a worry in the world. Gaming never felt as special as in these times.

I created a spotify playlist with the songs that have been recommended in the thread and also added some of my favorite cozy tracks.
Here is the link if someone else wants to use it. And if I set it up correctly, people should also be able to add songs to the playlist :)
Edit: I just saw that the invite link will only be available for 7 days, so if someone wants to add some songs in the future, just reply here and I'll invite you

Looks like you added a lot haha, I'll give it a listen later, thanks.

Yeah, let's hope everyone's as conscious as you, but I guess it would be easy enough to remove the permissions in case of a troll

daddy is a great song though :D
I know it's a bit weird, but for some time I used to listen to songs like that in order to fall asleep 😅

Thank you for the GA's!
One cozy game I found recently (actually, through the August edition of PAGYWOSG) is Calico. While the game is simple and somewhat fast to beat, the soundtrack is absolutely fantastic and I keep listening to it all the time. The game world is generally beautiful and diverse, both from a landscape as well as from a character perspective, and with character customization (which honestly is not great but works), easy progression, and no death, it's relaxing besides cozy. Recommended!
PS - I was unaware of Cozy Time before seeing your GA, but it reminds me a lot of Virtual Cottage

I stumbled upon Cozy Time randomly, thought it would be a fitting game to start the thread heh. Virtual Cottage looks nice too. There's also another one that has a similar look to it, Kind Words (lo fi chill beats to write to).

Ah yes, Kind Words is one of the highest rated games in my Playnite - I've played it a little bit and is definitely along the same lines

I really enjoyed Dorfromantik - beautiful, relaxing game with great sound design. It really frees the head from unwanted thoughts while playing. It feels like meditative painting, only much better. Grab one if you can :)
And since Fernandopa made an excellent promo speech and to support the cause - here is a gibeabay of a Calico game: https://www.steamgifts.com/gibeabay/~QcsGM~/calico (lvl3+ till October 7) :)

I bought Dorfromantik recently, it looked too cozy to pass up hehe. Haven't yet played it though, but it's high on my list.
And thanks for the gib. /ᐠ. ᴗ.ᐟ\

I don't have cozy games to add to the list as it's not my preferred genre of games (you can just tell what games I like if you look at my profile) or cute animal pictures (I don't own a companion pet), but I can add some soundtrack music to the list. So here are my picks which in my opinion may suit it well:
The Weeknd - Take My Breath
Blood Orange - Jesus Freak
RealestK - WFM

Boy, do I have some to recommend! Will compile a list when I have the time
In the meantime, I’ll just drop this little video here :) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Uq5Aukfbz3M
Edit: There are some that others have recommended, which I'll second at the end of the list. For my list, I'll focus on games that no one has pointed out yet :)
Adventure/Sim
Farming sim/life sim
Puzzle/HOG
Casual/relaxing city-builders - for those who enjoy playing Dorfromantik
Most point-and-click adventures and visual novels would likely fall under "cozy games" definition too I think :P
Recent finds at Steam NextFest
Seconding these games: Haven Park, Unpacking, Dorfromantik
GA pending!

As someone who's somewhat new to these kind of games you got me excited. 😃

Thanks for the cozy list, noticed that you posted it only now. 😺If you're gonna make a GA, please post via a separate comment, or contact me, so I could add it to the OP.

Hi no worries! Sorry for the late GA too, been crazy busy - basically burning the candle on both ends, but I simply have to set this GA now or I'll just keep postponing it until I have some free time, which would likely come some time next year 🤦
My contribution (level 1+): https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/CoZt4N/deleteZ
P/S: I should really update my list too. Found a few more cozy games during the last Steam Next Fest :)

Thanks for finding time to contribute to the thread with your cozy GA, and happy B'day. 🤍(◕ᴥ◕)
As for the list, I'd suggest making another comment with your fresh findings, but it's up to you.

Those aren't really the type of games that I usually play. I kinda need... stuff to be happening in order to keep myself busy and focused on something so I wouldn't constantly keep thinking about how dead I am inside. Aka, I'm a min-maxing try-hard.
Here are the games I've played which I guess come closest to those definitions:
Reus - A rare god game. It's pretty simple- you're a planet, you control four elemental giants, and you tell them to create biomes and resources so little people would move in. Then those little people ask for more resources and you have the giants make/upgrade them. There is some planning involved and playing it for the achievements is definitely not "chill". But otherwise it's pretty cozy... I guess.
Pikuniku - A silly lighthearted little platformer where you mostly goof around. It's quite simple and funny.
VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action - Cute story with lots of interesting and relatable (and sometimes funny) characters. While it does tackle some heavy themes from time to time it keeps everything wholesome. Gameplay consists of mixing drinks as the name implies. :P
This Starry Midnight We Make - Ok, when I think about it, this is probably the one that falls under "Cozy Game" the most. And also the one that I'm sure barely anyone has heard of. You basically have this magic basin thing where you can create celestial objects by mixing smaller objects. It's fun in that "playing around with Lego and other toys to see what you get" kind of way. Story is cute and wholesome and the game is localized by Carpe Fulgur (the guys who localized Recettear and Chantelise) so you know it's an amazing (and funny) localization. :D

I've found Unpacking brings about cozy feelings. It's a great puzzle game to play when one needs to unwind. Spring Falls is also a chill puzzle game. It doesn't ask for twitch reflexes, and gives unlimited undos.
Kind Words is a neat little game which has you writing letters, or replies to others' letters. It's got a wholesome community full of folks happily writing away. It also has content moderation, which is great. And it's got stickers! You use them to decorate your room.
There's also Clouzy!. Though I only recently heard of it, Clouzy! has such a place in my heart. It's currently in a Fanatical bundle, for those wanting a copy.
And as a bonus on top of my recommendations, here's a Jigidi of my little fuzzy buddy, Frisky. 🥺

The only cozy game that I've played and comes to mind is Coffee Talk because its a VN with a relaxing atmosphere and a perfect cozy game to just chill and hear about the stories of various characters without any stress
Also started Octopath Traveller recently, can't say that its a cozy game but the artstyle is nice and soundtrack is incredible.
Here's a great soundtrack from the game - The Sunlands - Octopath Traveller

Coffee Talk looks like such a pleasant game heh. I hate coffee though.
And I agree that music in Octopath Traveller is pretty nice, but my favorite pieces so far were actually the battle themes, like Decisive Battle I is so good.

Ah yes, the procrasticozynation, something I'm too familiar with heh.

A game I tend to go back to from time to time is Cozy Grove, it's even got cozy in the title :D
And I got Potion Permit lately, which is pretty cozy, too, if you don't mind some light (rather easy and potentially avoidable) combat when you're out looking for ingredients ^^
Thanks for creating this thread! Bookmarked it right away :D
Comment has been collapsed.
I've had Cozy Grove on my wishlist for quite some time.. but I'm not sure if it's worth getting for me since I tend to abandon games like this after a few weeks I'm assuming it's similar to Animal Crossing with the daily tasks
I've also been looking at the reviews for Potion Permit, but they seem to suggest that it's kind of a worse alternative for Stardew Valley (which I should continue playing at some point as well) 😅
and that reminds me of Wylde Flowers. I kind of wanna try that mainly because of the voice acting
Comment has been collapsed.
Hmm, yeah there are some daily tasks, but then, you're not forced to do them... better to just do things at your own pace... Some days I'd just play 15 or so minutes, some others I'd play a few hours on hand. Truthfully, now I only log back in every few months, to chill around and check what's new ^^ But, I can understand that not everyone likes that kinda "daily" games :D
As for Potion Permit, the problem now is that everyone compares every farming/life-sim game with Stardew Valley, so if we go there, most games of the genre are worse alternatives for SV, so just go play stardew valley, period. (Not saying that SV is bad or anything, I quite enjoyed it.)
But, hell, I wish reviewers would stop comparing everything to it and talk of the games for themselves. Sure PP isn't perfect, but it's a nice cozy game (no farming elements here), where you're a chemist sent to a town to take care of its inhabitants, help rectify past mistakes, and help to bring the isle to its former natural glory. The brewing mechanics are nice, the characters are interesting and attaching in my opinion, and the game mechanics are simple enough. And it's probably less time consuming, too, overall. (Haven't completed the story, yet, but I'd say it's more of a middle-length game, while you can lose hundreds of hours in SV.) This game does its own thing in my opinion, I wouldn't compare the two.
I do have Wylde Flowers in my wishlist, I'll probably get it one day ^^
Comment has been collapsed.
yeah I definitely get why you're not a fan of comparing games with other established ones, I feel the same way when I see movie critics do that for films..
but it's just the easy thing to do, and I feel like especially for games (which often take marginally longer to complete than a 2hour movie) it sometimes can be helpful at least for me
I'm sitting here procrastinating continuing Stardew Valley, even though I'd like to play it more.. but if I then were to get a new game with a similar playstyle, it would probably suffer the same fate in my backlog.

Would a game like My Time at Portia count as "cozy"? It's tagged as relaxing and I would generally agree with that... although there is also some pressure to complete tasks.
I find Megaquarium to be very relaxing as well.
It occurs to me that I am treating "relaxing" and "cozy" as synonyms but that may not quite be correct.
I can highly recommend Dorfromantik, it's a great game (although it gets a bit less cozy if you desperately try to make the absolute most optimal play with every single tile; I try not to do that).
Comment has been collapsed.
My Time at Portia def looks cozy to me, some level of challenge doesn't negate the coziness imo. I also didn't know that it's set in post apocalypse until I read the description. I'd say their post apocalypse looks better than the current reality for most haha.
And thanks for you contribution. /ᐠ. ᴗ.ᐟ\

Quite some while ago I have created a "Relax" tag in my Steam library, where I have put in quite a few games that are either cozy or at least turn-based and without time restraints (like Battle Brothers) and thus help me relax. :)
Several of these games have already been mentioned above, but there are some more I enjoy and can recommend:

I'm looking forward to Lego Bricktales, and I'll be getting it for myself when it comes out next week.
Depending on the price and if I actually like it there might even be a giveaway in store 😁

That would be awesome, no pressure though, hehe. Looks like a pretty cozy game based on those screenshots and vids.

My favorite cozy game is probably Placid Plastic Duck Simulator. I found it on accident and enjoy it a lot. I am waiting for the update this month that includes a save feature so I don't have to restart when turning it off and on again. It is incredibly relaxing, and I can sit for a while just watching the ducks do their thing.

Ooooh great thread! and great timing!
I literally just started playing Lay which is free to play and it's already giving me tons of cozy feelings, though not much of a story so far, and Humble's Coral Island is coming next week in EA.
Spirtfarer is my go-to cozy touchy feely game.
I loved Spiritfarer so much that I haven't "finished" it yet. I just can't bring myself to end the story so I just cruise around with my buddies, growing food, cooking, chatting and fishing, and sailing around.
Another one I keep replaying because it gives me those cozy vibes is A Short Hike. If you're looking for a cute world, relaxing gameplay and a wholesome melt-your-heart story, and you haven't played it, you should totally give it a go!
Looking forward to Petit Island which gives me similar vibes.
And I recommend playing the demo for Naiad which is very different but super chill and colorful
Man, I realize I have tons of those on my wishlist that aren't released yet but I'll wait until I play them to see if they're worth recommending

Nowhere near release, but I'm watching this one: PuffPals Island Skies

Great idea for the forum. Love it. Thanks for the nice gibabays. :)
I don't think I have a lot of experience with "cozy" games. I'm sure A Short Hike fits that bill, and I really liked that one.

Welcome to the Cozy Zone, the corner of SG dedicated to sharing and discussing cozy games. Get yourself a blanket, some hot chocolate or herbal tea, get comfy in your chair and enjoy the good vibes and the good gibs too.
I'm certain most of you are familiar with the concept of "cozy gaming/games" by now, but to avoid any confusion here are some excerpts I stole from articles written by people who are better with words than me, which should give you the idea:
Links: 1 2 3 4
With that out of the way and skipping the whole "in these hard times we all need more cozy time in our lives" preamble (heh), let's get straight to what the Cozy Zone is
supposed to beabout:❣ My giveaways of cozy games. To be honest (at first) I just needed a place for my next gibs, as it so happened that I was in possession of some amount of keys for this particular type of games, but instead of going with just another one-time train I decided to make it an ongoing thread. So
for nowthe plan is to do GAs for this thread with games of the cozy kind on a somewhat regular basis.✽ Your giveaways of cozy games. Everyone is welcome to join me in making GAs for games that fit the theme. No strict guidelines, use your own discretion when deciding if the game is good for this thread. In general, fitting games usually have one or more of these tags on Steam: Relaxing / Family Friendly / Cozy / Wholesome / Cute / Comedy; and here are some tags that these games usually don't include: Violent / Gore / Survival / Psychological Horror / Hentai / Dark / War / Military / Dystopian (these are just some examples of some of the most popular tags). In any case, if a game seems cozy enough to you, feel free to give it away. Just make your GAs private (aka invite-only).
Special Cats tag exception: as a result of the FCDSCGC-2023 event, cats were proclaimed the mascot animal of our thread and thus any game that has a 'Cats' tag on Steam is allowed to be given away here, whether it's cozy or not.
Every active giveaway will be featured in the OP (if I'm around at the time it's running).
☯ General discussion of cozy games. Random cozy games discoveries, thoughts on latest games you've played, discounts alerts and everything else related to games of the cozy kind.
◒ Recommendations for cozy games. Do share your favorite games, well known or not. Hidden gems are especially welcome though, cause many niche games often go largely unnoticed.
✧ Cozy events. So, events have become a semi-regular occurrence in our thread, and I'm looking to make them an integral part of the Cozy Zone experience moving forward. If you want to host an event in the thread which requires some coordination or have an idea for a future event, please contact me on Steam; otherwise, feel free to post your cozy trains, celebratory GAs, puzzles and whatnot at any time. You can also contribute by either partially or fully sponsoring the prize pool and/or by donating cozy games for events (as I might struggle to fully cover these prize/GAs-wise on my own, so some help is always appreciated; again, contact me for this).
If you wish to just bump the thread, feel free to so, but keep in mind that the recommended way to bump is the cozy way, which is achieved by posting:
♦ pics of your adorable pets ♦ pics of your cozy gaming space ♦ pics of anything cozy or cute ♦ light-hearted memes ♦ links to relaxing music (make sure to check out our own cozy playlist ♫ too) ♦
One rule in this thread: good vibes only, so please let's make it comfy for everyone and keep the negativity to the minimum.
