I feel like this review was a bit shallow. Spoiler free reviews like this are about as useful as watching the trailer of the game in this case.
There is a lot to be said about this game, a lot to discuss especially regarding the ending. Is there a longer version where you elaborate or something? A lot could be said about the scripted nature of the game, the puzzle design that doesn't dive deeper in any mechanic, even though there are a few great ideas in there. Also player death is handled strangely in the game, just like the overall narrative. I am just saying there is a lot to analyze here, and it would be nice to hear your opinion about these.
Thanks for the giveaway, irregardless.

I disagree. I love in-depth analysis; Heck i even love entire articles pouring over a single aspect of a game.
On my view theres place for both types- and both are needed.
With inside i have been avoiding and stopping reviews midway because most felt spoilerish for me, even with the reviewers trying to avoid then. This effect is worse with some games, this is one o then. Of course this varies depending on how much someone avoids and feels impacted by spoilers...
...im one of the haters/afraid of then. Ive left good movies unseen for a couple of years because i got mad at spoiled ends (i stopped doing that despite feeling the same). I gave up watching some films on the cinema after paying for then because i lost the begning by a few minutes. I want the whole experience to its best.
With games this is less of a issue in general because even with spoilers theres layers and layers of gameplay unspoiled- the type no explanation can spoil, only playing itself. It also help that most of the gaming medium don't really mix story with gameplay but overlays the gameplay with a story.
But then some games rely too much on the narrative and its presentation. If you take the narrative away whats left is dumb or in some cases barely interactive.
Different then movie reviews however game reviews can more easily avoid spoilers. I haven't even watched this review just the written part - if theres a jarring flaw i notice on this one(the written part) is completely lacking a personal impression (that could easily been spoiler free). I mean she doesn't tell in the text how strongly she recommends or how much she enjoyed - it doesn't even mention how the game is all around story and presentation.
On the other hand she summrized the gameplay straighfoward and with some details ive seen no other point out. It ended up being more informative to me then the last 3 i kinda watched (avoiding looking at video) - that were meatier so to say. Like those theres probably hundreds out there if not more.

I am simply stating that the review stays distant.
The first question is who is this review for? Someone who has already played it and has some questions? Someone who has no idea of gaming, ? someone who has played limbo, but isn't sure about this one? Frankly watching the trailer for the game accurateéy summerizes what the game offers gameplay wise, due to its length, for most people. The narrative is a whole other issue. This review is basically just a summary of the gameplay things on offer with a one word saying whether they function properly or not.
The game feel, something incredibly subjective is almost completely left out and I would say that in a game like this the experience aspect is the most important part. How one feels and how one interprets the game. This is also something that helps us determine the personality of the reviewer and thereby we can determine whether she is a reviewer whose judgement we can listen to and trust. This is missing here, which makes the review feel like just a random five sentence steam review.

Fair enought. While i feel somewhat refreshing seeing someone being objective about Inside (because pretty much no one is, wich bugs me a little- i mean, expressing ones subjective reaction shouldn't stop someone on giving some simple and straightfoward info) it did missed the whole point.
I suspect its abscence was ignored by me, and perhaps by her, by how much the game has been talked about. For me it was enougth because i already have a pretty damn good idea what the game is about and its approach, for someone with no idea about inside that review would indeed be the most misleading one :P

Yeah. well..the summary of most reviews is basically this one.
I don't exactly agree with it, but there is no place to discuss it, since the thing is so vague.
and I have doubts that an objective opinion is helpful when it comes to a game like Inside.:D

I am sometimes overly cautious about avoiding spoilers. I did give some of my feelings on the game: unique bizarre story, where I felt indifferent about the ending, i enjoyed the puzzles/gameplay/atmosphere, but I also think it was too expensive.
Looking back at my review, it seems I did have in mind the folks who have played LIMBO, and in hindsight, I should have gone into more detail about the gameplay for those who may be new to PlayDead's games. Although, I have no regrets about my deliberate omission of story details though.

Really nice written review- while i see some criticism to bullet points in reviews (Acg's from youtube comes to mind) i actually love then- quick sumarise. I eally enjoyed how it is straighfoward and simple regarding gameplay- like the slow swimming- the kind of detail i want reviewed but few do. Its worse with praised games with major highlights like story, presentation and such- most reviewer dwell on those praised features and don't rely any specific info beyond what dozens of others already stated (the most obvious features). Heck sometimes even 1 phrase steam reviews inform me of something reviewers left aside.
I also like lenghtier reviews but then idn if they should be called review- better called analysis; My perfect review is the one that have a bit of both styles, leaving deeper analysis for separate articles.
And i see we think alike- the reason i didn't watch your video review is because ive been avoiding any spoiler. I half 'heard' some reviews (throwed then in my second monitor away from my main view) but decided to stop with those - as a friend told me the game was short and since its a visual treat pretty much any scene is spoilerish. I feel the same effect with Edith Finch and Abzu.
Its strange that i subscribe your channel and love your reviews but hadn't noticed the link to the site (and thus missed the written counterparts). (facepalm)
Thanks a lot for the GA!! Im so, sooo freaking mad i missed may monthly's from hb... 'Oh dirt, i don't dig racing that much..'. Goddamit! Turned out it had 5 wishlisted games... rage
Ive been hunting and entering Inside gas like crazy. Fingers crossed...
