Seriously, Hollywood. You're trash.

How in the world would you think that making a remake of Scarface would be a good idea?!

This is madness!

You can't remake a masterpiece made in 1983 you idiots! The legendary movie that GTA Vice City was based on! You cannot do this to us!

This only proves that you, Hollywood, are drowning in a sea of lacking imagination and money, so you go ahead and remake true cinema masterpieces so you can make more money. You are disgusting. And I hate you.

Tony Montana will come back and show you it's little friend.

That's because remakes are easier to make money on. Very little time and money have to be spent on the script and less is needed with the advertising when something is already familiar.

Fact: all the people who're shouting "this shouldn't be done" will be going to watch it. And probably even buy it too on disc.

Maybe because they want to know how it turned out and maybe begin to like how it was done?
And just out of curiosity: On what do you base that "fact" ? I don't have any actual statistics, but I know more than a few people who boycott something if they really want to.

People like using an opinion and calling it fact, this annoys me the most out of anything in human interaction besides racism which is 10 points worse. Some people actually say an opinion and end it with the word fact, its pure ignorance.

It's not ignorance. It's called hyperbole.

Nobody is forcing you to watch it. More entertainment is always good.

I agree with this actually, I may hate most movies that come out nowadays but to be honest some remakes are better, its rare but it happens and why not let shit come out for the chance of something good once in a while? Makes sense to me, then again I liked movies like Dumber and Dumberer :-D.

Except that's totally not true. Unless you avoid all human interaction from this moment on and stay off the grid and keep your eyes shut and ears plugged, at some point in your life you WILL see it, even if you don't want to; you may see a Youtube video involving clips from it, or catch a glimpse of it channel surfing, or someone nearby might be watching it on a mobile device. Ergo, you are forced to watch it.

I still can't believe they did a remake of The Three Stooges. What's next? Laurel and Hardy? The Marx Brothers?

Not that I necessarily agree with remakes, but seriously, everything has been done in some shape or form. If there were many original ideas left they would find a place somewhere. Anything new that comes out is mostly similar to other movies, and will always be held up against them.

No, it's just that innovation is dead because producers and media corporations love to beat on old horses instead of making something new. Just because Hollywood is like that doesn't mean there aren't original films or film ideas.

I've never understood the issue with remakes. Sure, the money could go towards making some other, more original and conceivably better film; but it's hardly the ultimate offence, insult and whatnot many make it out to be.

theirs no new ideas just old ones rehashed, i mean star wars is basically seven samurai meets battle of britain in space, including some re-use of shots pretty much but because george lucas knows his way around directing it works, its possible a scarface remake will be utter junk but it could be a different take thats equally as good

Scarface is actually a remake of a movie from the 30s or 40s, i don't recall, taking place during prohibition.

I couldn't care less. If you don't like it ignore it and don't watch it. That's probably what I'm going to do.
