They really deserve people playing their game.
Some of these additions are quite nice and considering they had a couple of giveaways with about 100 copies on each one I respect them.

It's obviously just for huge fans, close friends, or someone who may be an investor. They're looking to offer bonuses to get extra income from the game, while offering rewards for paying a ton extra.

I don't think you know what an investor does. If you were an investor, you'd actually INVEST in the game and expect a return on that investment, not buy a ridiculously expensive copy for the hell of it. That's not investing, that's just throwing away money.

And while I fully understand a hardcore fan of fairy solitaire (if there even is such a thing) might want to spend a little extra, I have a seriously hard time believing anyone would be brain-damaged enough to pay $1000 for it, extras or no extras.

I was saying that an investor who has already invested and has been pleased with the outcome of their investment already may just be wanting to give something back to the development team and purchase one of those copies. I didn't mean that it would be their investment, that wouldn't make sense... :)

It's no different than a Kickstarter, except that you actually know you'll get your game because it's at a pretty advanced stage. Kicstarter has even more ridiculously prices rewards, and someone even paid Double Fine $50,000 outside of Kickstarter because Kickstarter only goes to $10,000.

People who have money to spare will put it into something they like, and it only looks strange to those who don't understand how you can spare that amount of money. I find it strange myself, but I accept that it's normal for some people. It's not any stranger than spending hundred of dollars to buy games to give on Steam Gifts.

Actually, the Collector's edition (and everything beyond that) comes with a remastered version of the first game according to the page. Or more accurately, all of the content from the first game remastered, as well as a prequel.
