So I've been thinking about this suggestion after seeing I was blacklisted by someone on Giveaways. Now I've went into a discussion with them about why it happened, which I don't want to bring that into this forum. What I want to do is bring improvements to the functions on SteamGifts instead from the faults I see wrong with the community.

  • Firstly, I want the option to automatically Blacklist anyone who adds me to their blacklist, OR the option to see the list of users who've blacklisted me that way I can blacklist them as well. I believe adding someone to your blacklist should also have a negative affect - I can't enter your giveaways, and it makes more sense not allowing them to enter mine for whatever reason.
I honestly believe that some obsessively abuse their blacklisting feature. And while I do not want to stop anyone from handling their giveaways as they want and allowing who they want to enter, because there are some extreme cases where you deem it absolutely necessary they deserve to be on your blacklist, it is very flawed the way it currently is. Maybe others will reconsider blacklisting and obsessively looking for reasons to blacklist anyone just because they didn't do something the way you expect them to (didn't comment, did comment, etc, etc, etc.) if they know that it will possibly negatively affect them from entering GA's as well.

  • And secondly, I would like the option to leave a note to the creator of my won giveaways, preferably on the same page I mark my giveaways as received, or not received.

EDIT:
Most have mentioned it should be optional, but I hope that would have been the case anyway.
I hope it would be optional as well. I would just want more options for the blacklists, which currently is just flawed to me, but I don't want to make it interfere with anyone creating the blacklist however they want. I'd just want them to understand there can be consequences for blacklist for silly reasons, and hopefully that will prevent them from misusing it for that. I have only used my blacklist if it is absolutely necessary (which has currently been never because I've never deemed anyone wronging me), and from what I've experienced that's not usually the case. Most people are posting assuming I want to lash back at those who blacklisted me. That's certainly not the reason behind this idea, I find it unacceptable for the reasons I find myself blacklisted, just because I'm not social enough in the community. And those people, are the reason I want them on my blacklist.

I don't really know if i have been blacklisted or not by anyone, but then again i don't really enter giveaways that much anymore. I think people should have the decency to not enter the giveaways of anyone they've blacklisted because if you consider that person to not be "worthy" of getting free stuff to you then you should not want free stuff from him either no?

I'd be for this, simply because I wouldn't want to accidentally enter a giveaway of someone I blacklisted.

Unfortunately, I mostly use SteamGifts on my tablet, so I can't use any extra scripts :(.

Altough it would be useful for me so I don't accidentaly enter GA from blacklisted user I'm against it. It would cause much more problems that it solves. If it auto adds to blacklist, than it's equivalent to "You have been BL by XXX" message. And threads full of drama, calling out, etc will start to appear one after another (as we can see it's happening already). If it's done as additional invisible list, there is problem with removing from it - the one unblacklisting you would have to ask you to file a support ticket for that. That is not best way to use their free time, such petty matters should be resolved in private between blacklister an blacklisted

Why would the one who unblacklist have to ask the person who was blacklisted to file a support system?
SG could manage the hidden blacklist with the report from the person who unblacklisting alone.
Or to make it less complicated. Just make it so that once a user unblacklist someone, that person will also automatically removed from the invisible a month later. This will reduce work of Support and also prevent abusing.

Last option not necessarily would do the job. Most of unblacklisting is done after some talking between both parties. And after issues are cleared it wouldn't be ok that original blacklister is blacklisted for a month

That would be the minority since normally most people wouldn't know the list of people who blacklisted them anyway.
The one month delay is to prevent people from unblacklisting just to enter GA and to make people think a little bit more than it currently is before blacklisting someone instead of blacklisting people because they feel like it.
If they somehow get to talk and blacklist, they can just calling support to remove it. It'd be better than making support remove it every time.
Or the system can be made so that the person who remove blacklist can also choose to send request to the person who was blacklisted to mutually remove it. If a person removed blacklist by himself, they get 1 month delay. If a person sent request to the blacklisted person first and both party agree then he will be removed from invisible list instantly. This would remove need of involving support altogether.

Never thought about blacklists before (not that I've been here at SG for very long)... certainly wouldn't want a list of users who have blacklisted me, I can imagine all the forum dramas such could cause :(

A simple check box option on the profile page to automatically reciprocate blacklisting without notification would seem to be a workable option I guess.

would be cool if the blacklister could optionally put in their own reason for blacklisting you so you can see why you are blacklisted. I still have no idea how I made mew2's list but considering it's almost 2000 users big, I doubt my "offense" was terribly bad :p

Yay! Let's make any perceived slight to me totally transparent! Better yet, let's make revenge for those slights an opt-OUT system, so we can further disintegrate the tenuous good will that every internet community depends on!

Don't worry too much about being blacklisted, it happens to everyone for valid and of course silly reasons. I wouldn't want to see a list of people who blacklisted me, it kinda ruins the surprise when I click on their giveaways ;)

Auto-blacklisting is a bad idea IMO. If you really think its unfair just manually add them. Personally I only blacklisted two people because I strongly disagreed with their 'handlings/opinions'. Whenever I see I'm blacklisted I either think 'ooh I might deserve this' or 'wtf who is this guy'? Either way, it gives me a few giggles, then I return to entering other people's GAs.
